Unit 14 Archery Mule Deer

I drew a unit 14 archery tag. Haven't hunted mule deer in the Cibola National Forest before. Hoping to get some help on the best strategy as far as early, mid or late season. Are these bucks up high all of September or are they like Colorado where they come down into the timber as soon as they strip their velvet? I actually antelope hunt (landowner tag) each year southwest of Estancia so would like to hunt the southern part of the Cibola's if possible. Any help would be appreciated!

some nice bucks in there. Rough mountain so be in shape. I would concentrate up high that time of year.
