No Axis this morning. We are moving to a fresh cut hay field along a river. Will be in a try pod stand 60 yards off field edge in some thick cedars.

Axis can be darn tough!

They may not move outside of the thick stuff during daylight. Try to get a stand in the thickest cover available - even if it’s in a short tree or even a ground blind.

They can be almost 100% nocturnal in a lot of places and you may need to hunt at night under a light.

Try getting some alfalfa to sprinkle around.

I leave Fairbanks a week from tonight. Fly to San Angelo then drive to Sonora, TX. Free-range axis and then blackbuck if there is time.

It is a productive time of year to hunt "southern hemisphere" critters.
