We are reviving an archery club and looking for new ideas for novelty shoots after you finish the course. I can't figure how to do a search to see what has been posted before so thought I would start a new thread.

That steel target one that blows your arrow up if you miss the small ten ring.

Smoker round: 50% pay back. 10 targets but only allowed to take 1 arrow through the course. lose or bust it, you're out. hunter challenge: one shooting stake, 5 targets. all targets are in about a 90-95% 'no shot' situation. winner gets a door prize.

Place a 5 gallon bucket out about 100 yards and the closet to the bucket shooting flu flu arrows and a recurve bow takes the pot at the end of the day.

Put a few targets on a path at really difficult angles. When you get to a target you can look to see where you think the best shot angle is. No stake. But once you pass the target you can't back up if your intended shot angle has already been passed. If possible-find a tree that is forked at ground level but when you stand looking at it the fork is at eye level. Put a small target like a standing raccoon or a standing beaver right at the fork. Five yard shot,no more. Put a one inch square on a large target like a buffalo or elk at 100 yards. Archers take the shot without using their bow sight. Or put a balloon on the taget instead of a one inch square. Again no bow sight. Make all above ideas on a time limit.

I wasn't there but at a local shoot they did a javelina target close like 5-10 yards but had to shoot thru chainlink fence. Key was to know where your arrow was actually going compared to your sight.

How about a light weight loop hanging on a string 1 foot in front of bail. arrow must go through loop as it slightly moves and or spins in the breeze. every shooter gets a ticket, loop shooters get 6 tickets. drawing at end.

Shoot the flame out on a candle without hitting the candle. Tie a playing card to a string, which is attached to a rod, which is attached to a motor that spins the setup.

Arrow shaft (or tygon tubing size of the shaft) on a target. 1-3$ an arrow to shoot. First one inside the shaft or tubing gets 1/3 to 1/2 of the cash pot..

If you have the space a long distance shoot (over 60yds for coumpound) , with a straight pin in the center of the 11 ring. Shooter pays per shot (50% payout). Closes to the straight pin at the end of the day wins, if a tie, have a shoot off using a smaller target. Have a stakes for compond, traditional, and kids under 12 to make it fair for those who want to play. You could have a speed shoot, set up 5-6 targets at different distances, give the shooter (only one at a time) 30 seconds to shoot all targets high score at the end of the day wins. Timer lets shooter puts arrow on the string, makes sure shooter is ready, then says "go" (there is definatly pressure on this novelity). All shooters shoot from the same stake on this one. Again 50% payout. DANNY

A variance on the poker shoot, put the cards on cardboard backwards in rows of six, cards are mixed up, with spaces between the cards, so they can't see the faces on the cards. 5 shots, shots have to hit or touch the card, shooter picks what cards they want to shoot while shooting. Shot distance 20 yds, closer for kids. If they miss a card/cards they play the hand they hit. If they only hit one card, that is the only card they play for that hand . Person running the novelity is the one who goes out to write down card faces (so no one knows the card placements if they want to play again) highest hand wins. DANNY
