Best sausage stuffer

Looking for a good stuffer to do 5-10 lbs maybe 2-3 times a year thanks Lewis
I have a Weston 7 lb. and I hate it. Everything functions fine but the sausage will leak past the gasket when stuffing. Especially bad when using the 1/2" horn. Very annoying.
Good one might not be cost effective
If you are only doing that amount get a "stuffing disc" for your grinder and just use it. Stuffers are over priced for what they do.
Stuffing sausage with the average grinder is a good way to burn up the motor!
Lem 15 lb best money I have ever spent!!! Stuffing with a grinder does not work heats meat up and is slooooow. Best move i ever made burger salmon pepperoni etc awesome
If you use an electric grinder get a foot control. I made some summer sausage with my sheep from last year that was fantastic.
Guys....read the OP....he`s doing 5-10 lbs. maybe 2-3 times a year. You are NOT going to burn up a grinder or overheat properly chilled meat prior to stuffing. Especially if you use a stuffing plate.
I'd sell you my LEM 5 lber. Nothing wrong w it other than just being 5 lbs. I'd like a much bigger one.
And yes invest in a stuffer, your sausage will thank you for it. (It turns out so much better!)
Don't think brand matters a ton just get one bigger than 5lb stuffer. When making 10-15 3lb summer sausages at a time I wish my 10lb stuffer was larger.
Franklin+1. I use a small Oster Heavy Duty Food Grinder/Sausage maker. After 30 yrs, it's still pumping out an avg of 20 lbs of great tasting summer sausage each year.
Best sausage stuffer seems to be a toss up between Viagra and Cialus. No personal experience.
But ten pounds of meat!?! C’mon buddy, you must be a fisherman too.
wyobull….that was my 1st grinder/stuffer too. Got it as a wedding gift and never knew it had all those capabilities, I thought it was just for mixing cake batter. lol
Size matters when stuffing sausage. Go bigger or go home.
Small batches you can do with a jerky shooter. Helps to have multiple tubes to pre-fill with meat and swap them out as you are filling a casing.
F. Dick makes the best sausage suffers on the planet- Though I'm not quite sure you want to shell out the cash for the little that you do. I would get a the 5lb LEM with the metal gears. It should be plenty big for your needs and can still handle snack sticks if you should ever want to make those.
If you have a grinder, use it. Get a foot controller. Been using mine ours stuff for years and never an issue. And we usually stuff up to 100 lbs in a session. But, I do have a #22 from Cabelas. We even bought the big mixer that connects to it. Pretty big chunk of money in all of it, but worth every penny!!!
In fact, everybody around here I know uses their grinder to stuff with.
How well does the grinder work for stuffing when using the small 18-20mm natural casings?
We don't stuff the small casings, but I know someone who does. He uses his grinder to stuff the small ones and it works just fine. Like everything else, its likely just a matter of finding the trick to it.
I use my grinder and a stuffing plate. It works fine for the 10-15 pounds of sausage I make a year. However, I did tell the wife I wanted a meat mixer for Christmas. So, I intend to make more then what I currently do. So, that might change once I start making a lot.
i bought this one from amazon:
https://www.amazon.com/VIVO-Sausage-Vertical-Stainless-STUFR-V003/dp/B00OBXZ9EY/ref=sr_1_6?s=kitchen&ie=UTF8&qid=1540392662&sr=1-6&keywords=sausage+stuffer
i primary use it to fill burger tubes. i have not stuff sausage links with it yet. it does a really really good job. makes quick work on putting up ground venison for the freezer.
It's a pleasure to use good tools. I have a Hakka 15lb that I got on an Amazon sale, I think at the time it was right about $100. Just about the right size for me as I only bring it out when grinding larger amounts. All stainless, most everything can go in the dish washer. Make sure metal gears, two speed is a must. Much prefer the stainless stuffing tubes with a metal collar/ring. I've broken plastic ones when I used to use a grinder to stuff with.
I do some sausage from time to time but 90% of my use is stuffing ground meat tubes. If you've used a stuffer you'll never go back to the grinder/stuffer. Love it. Great control and very little effort, much faster. Only comes out 2 or 3 times a year for a few hours but can grind and stuff a huge amount of meat in just a short while.
Next toy, er, I mean tool...... is a good meat mixer........ =D
