I bought some arrows for deer recently. With a 125 BH they will weigh 475 gr. Would you use them on elk at 260 FPS with a coc BH?

My arrows weigh 460gr @ 240 fps with a COC BH. Pass-thru on this year's elk at 30yds. Your's will do just fine.

Yep. That's 70ish in kinetic energy, which is perfect for elk.

I'd use them from my 53# recurve. Matter of fact, thats what I do use from my 53# recurve, and killed a bunch of elk with 3 and 4 blade Muzzys before switching to Iron Wills for the past several years.

You'll definitely have more than enough momentum to kill an elk. My arrow weighs 435 grains with a cut on contact BH. Never had an issue killing an elk.

I wouldn’t go that light myself; not because of the 475 grains, but because that’s only 7.66 GPP from my heaviest bow. I’m thinking more like 8.5 or 9 range.... 500-540.
But if Lou says you’re good.... I’m not gonna argue.

But still the question remains... what's FOC ??

Good point, how could we omit such a crucial factor! Everyone knows anything less than 30% is completely inadequate. More than likely would just bounce off a deer, let alone an elk.

Wyo... exactly... of that 475 grns... at least 300 grains needs to be up front... otherwise it's a futile effort, you might as well be throwing rocks

Had two pass through on the elk I shot this year with 430 grain arrows and CoC broadheads (traveling about ~280 fps if I recall).

Your arrow weight is perfect, anything less or more would be less effective all around

Sounds like excellent elk medicine to me.
