Going over 1 of the Wyoming passes and it sure is Lush green and still some snow in the high country
I made it to my FAV KodiCabin, got unpacked and staged for the early morning hike/scouting.
It was still dark when I rolled out of the cabin the next morning and I was coming around a switchback and had 5-8 elk in the road, I laid on the brakes and I didn't hit one as they moved off to the side of the pavement.
Unfortunately, coming off the mountain and heading back to town, a little Honda car was off the side of the road and it had hit a yearling lil Bull.
This is the mountain that I was going to hike/scout for my elk tag and for Bull Moose.
My OnxMap off grid showed me going in and out of 102/104 elk and just 26 Moose, 135 G deer.
So the following pix are with in this mountain area, typical for this western Wyoming lay of the land, thick pines, quakies and open sagebrush...….
The FS roads are in better shape than they where back in May
I knew it was going to be a great day of scouting right after I got into lot's of 'Still Steaming'.....haha

I'm running a pinch late this early AM, so I'm off to the gym--get my daily Temp read---before entering the gym and then straight up to Wheeler Canyon for a good hike.
More to follow----->
Thanks again for taking the time to view,
Robb
Great pic's, love Wy. got bull tag myself. good luck Robb. J C
Robb, One of my favorite areas. Took a bow bull moose there a long time back. I have seen some dandy bucks there in the past and wondering if the deer are coming back. Do you know if they still run flocks of sheep there during bow season as they don't seem to help the hunting ? Thanks for this thread and all your threads which are very interesting to me........Bob
Thanks fella's
The sheep started staging on June 30th and will be all over the place!!
Good luck, Robb

As I hiked in and the morning progressed it just seemed like I had elk every time I came out of a patch of pines or quakies out feeding in the sagebrush meadows/parks.
1 last look back at me wondering what the heck? Before he ridged out/over

I worked my way thru some willows and when I got to the other side, the whole hill side was full of elk

I came to a 3 way fork along this canyon and decided to up into some thick pines and see what was up in there.
Right choice!
Sure glad I carry my lil stool as it was really wet.

After the elk wander out of this little lush pocket in the pines, I decided to take a break.
Sure glad I have good bug spray as the 'skeeter's got worse as the sun rose over the ridgeline.

I got tired of having my 15 x 56's bino's sitting on a Tripod on a shelf for most of the year next to the spotting scope so I decided to start using them instead of my Euro HD's 10 x 50's
Not as heavy as I thought they would be...….

They fit just snug in my King's Camo large bino case.
I sure am liking my Decked system in the bed of my JPG

Not a bad morning distance of hiking/scouting/filming.
That wraps up this morning pix
Thanks again for taking the time to view, comment and I've answered all the private requests.
Be safe and stay healthy All,

Every draw/canyon is choked with lush willows and great moose habitat
I noticed if I got up a little higher along the willows I could see Down into the willows and water.
Seeing moose that I never would have seen just hiking along the willows and water
Plenty of Weather protected Camping spots through out the area I traveled around with in.
Making a Rock Bridge to cross this creek

Even the lil side creeks had high running water

I've had quite a few request for more info on the Cabins.
See my link above
And for a few more pix of the Cabin, this one is my FAV and is #8 more for 4 people ect but I just Luv it
2 Full bathrooms, 2 bedrooms, full cooking kitchen (range and oven-microwave, very Western in design ect.
The Master Suite is the whole upstairs and bathing area, 2 shower head shower ect
Definitely a great option for husband and wife hunting with another hunting couple.
The 2 separate bedroom areas allows for plenty of privacy
For some reason, I just really like this Pic!

That wraps up today's pix offerings
I've been axed to not post any pix of the Bull Moose as this # 26 tag is so very hard to draw and no need to attract more attention to this area, makes sense to me....
Where as a few pix of Cow elk and a couple Raggie bull elk isn't making this area a Destination Hunt!! haha
Thanks for taking the time to view All and I've responded to all private questions.
I'll finish up in the AM mayana.

Yep once those sheep move in the elk will wander away. Did you stop by Big Spring ?
No PB, I didn't...….
Although I did take the time to go up to prolly my Fav lake.
This lake isn't in the #26 moose unit but it is always worth the drive up to see it.
Some of the best G muley hunting and if ya happen to luck into #25 Bighorn Ram tag----->
Big Buck Basin!

PS~~ I recently got a request (from late comer Ram tag) to run up to Dubois and look into the North end of Ram 22/south end of Ram 5. I got my Sheep Mnt Topo.com map Friday! Plus, No doubt some bowsiter will draw a Leftover Elk # 67 type 9 tag so I can help out 2 people on 1 trip haha Exciting------->
Wow, Robb, that last pic of "Big Buck Basin" is breath taking!
Bob----> Back when you could get G muley about every other year, I used to day hunt in there almost daily on the bow dates......what a blast!
Good luck, Robb
