Is there anybody that's up for vote that's a major roadblock to sunday hunting? It always seems that finding information about local elections is the hardest.

I'd be really surprised if this state would EVER give us Sunday hunting. As much as I would like to see it.

Just to cover all the issues correctly, vote a straight Republican ticket.

We have a very tough road to hoe to get Sunday Hunting in CT.

As Wild Bill stated the best chance is to elect a Republican Congress so we'll chair the committees and most importantly, we'll have the Speaker who can determine what bills get called.

Absent that our only realistic hope is if we get more "moderate" Democrats in key leadership positions who will put the will of their constituents above party-line politics.

We still have to keep at it (pushing for Sunday Hunting legislation); after all, it improves the odds of success to 50% over doing nothing....

I posted this above link in another Sunday hunting thread, but here goes again. Click the link to be taken to the CT CGA website for SB-83 - Sunday hutning bill from 2012. You can see the vote results on the bill and use it to decide who to vote for tomorrow

This is too long to post, but I'm doing it anyway I apologize in advance if the format makes it hard to read: From Bob Crook.

COALITION OF CONNECTICUT SPORTSMEN 2012 Sportsmen’s Political Action Committee (SportPAC) P.O. Box 2506, Hartford, CT 06146, (203) 245-8076 www.ctsportsmen.com [email protected]

Please copy and circulate these ratings. CCS Endorsements are in Bold; NRA Bold & . Incumbents designated by *.

If you don't know what district you're in go to http://www.cga.ct.gov/maps/townlist.asp

Some of these grades differ from NRA evaluations due to the CCS broader spectrum of issues (Hunting, Fishing, Boating, Trapping, Fees, etc.). Generally however, they are similar. CCS has previously sent the NRA Candidate Questionnaire and NRA grades.

VOTE! TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 6! Grading System Names in BOLD are SportPAC ENDORSED CANDIDATES. * Incumbent currently filling seat.

Each candidate begins with an "A" rating. Incumbent voting records are carefully evaluated and carry significant weight. Those who have an established legislative voting record, in their current state office or local level, are evaluated on the basis of that voting record. If there is no voting record, evaluation is based on response to the Questionnaire. Other factors considered are public statements, personal interviews and media comments. The Questionnaire is also used to refine incumbent's grades based on responses to new issues. SportPAC grades are generally consistent with NRA ratings, with differences attributable to issues not normally associated with NRA (Fishing, Boating, Fees, etc.). An "A+" or "F-" rating is only given to incumbent legislators.

A+: Pro-Sportsmen Leader - Proposes, coordinates, influences pro-sportsman legislation. Works closely with sportsmen's groups/lobbyists. Proposes sportsmen amendments/vocalizes sportsmen's positions during debate. A: Pro-Sportsmen Voter - Investigates and understands issues. Philosophically sound. Always supports sportsmen's issues. Occasionally takes a leadership role. B: Sportsmen Supporter - Generally votes with us, but occasionally supports an anti-sportsmen proposal. May compromise without sufficient information or constituent input. C: Middle of the Road - No real philosophical commitment. Strongly influenced by other legislators, leadership, and constituents. If not contacted, will vote against us. D: Anti-Sportsmen Supporter - Usually votes against us. Normally has no interest in our issues and does not investigate. May have few vocal sportsmen constituents. F: Anti-Sportsmen Voter - Philosophically committed anti-sportsmen. Occasionally sponsors, co-sponsors, debates detrimental bills or amendments. Relies on anti-sportsmen leaders for information. Can be consistently counted upon to vote against us. F-: Anti-Sportsmen Leader - Outspoken anti-sportsmen leader who consistently sponsors, co-sponsors, and leads debate on bills or amendments detrimental to sportsmen. ?: Position unknown. Did not answer the Questionnaire and no other pertinent information is available. Should be considered to have no interest in sportsmen's issues or is reluctant to be on record.

Ace,

Did you read that whole thing? I couldn't.

Vote Republican. A gain in the number of Republicans will signal that the people want a change from "business as usual" = tax and spend working peoples money as freely as you please.

05-Nov-12
I like my guy State Rep David Kiner (D) 59th District (Hazardville/Enfield). He supports SB83 and I got him to co-sponsor SB-83, which says a lot considering was only 8 co-sponsors if I remember correctly. He's proactive, fair and hard working. That's all need to know.

I will vote Karen Jarmoc (D) State Senate 2nd District. Last session I called and emailed Sen Kissel to see where he stood on SB83 and if he would co-sponsor SB83, to no avail. I never heard back from him until 6 weeks after the session and I got some generic email stating that Sen Kissel supports the 2nd amendment. Huh? Really? What's that have to do with SB83? Furthermore, Karen Jarmoc personally gave me and another bowsite member permission to both archery and firearms hunt all 14 of her farms/properties, which I must say has swayed my vote lol She also supports SB83.

The rest I'll vote republican.

06-Nov-12
Not sure the repubs will do as they say (who remembers the contract for America?) but I know Dems will raise spending and taxes and a host of other things that do not bode well for us.
