I cant wait to hear back when you have it offically measured by a pope and young measurer. 395 Could be one of the biggest bulls taken in Colorado. I cant seem to find anything over the 320-330 inch mark. But hey I cant complain, I have been fortunate.

It just doesn't appear to have the same outstanding features that I've seen on other 390" plus bulls like this 390-incher. That can also be due to camera angles and perspective.

nice bull enmine, that thing is a toad.

i gained some inches on my mass as well, the smallest mass dimension was 9.5 and 13 at the largest.

From: Bobmuley
17-Sep-08
Not picking, just wondering because when I looked at the first picture I sure didn't see that many inches. The picture angle and perspective makes all the difference in the world...I know, I've made the same mistakes. :)

Nice bull. I am heading up for a full week on the 22nd to unit 28. Hope I get a shot a half that bull. LOL

stop picking on me, just kidding.

as far as my size, i will make any animal look small

as far as the bulls score, my hunting partner and i measured it and got around 365-370, and it will make that easy, as far as it going in the 390's like i said, i had it measured by a taxadermist! all joking aside it will go in the 360's and for those of you who have seen me i will make a 200 pound guy look small so that never helps me with pictures.

when i get it scored by a pope and young scorer i will scan and post the score sheet.

i can post the dimensions and c what you guys come up with.

From: Heloman
17-Sep-08
I agree, whatever the score, AWESOME bull!

Great Job, ELKREAPER!

Helo

17-Sep-08
393 sounds way too big. I just helped out with a 365" 7x9 that looks waaaay bigger than that bull.

I'll await to hear what the official score sheet says once the drying period is over.

Im going to say 370 tops, which is a HUGE bull none the less.

Great job, but check those #s again.

i love this site, you always get honest opinions!

17-Sep-08
I agree with Bobmuley. Not a 393 bull.

But hey, I'd be tickled to death to get one like that reguardless of the score. CONGRATULATIONS !!!!!!!!!!

From: ELKREAPER
17-Sep-08
thanks for the advice, it's not a big deal to me. it's big it's dead and most hunters won't c a elk like that in a life time. i really don't take 2 many things seriously. the bull won't make 393 if jesus came down to help me out, but it did give everyone a break from there normal boring day! it will make 360 plus, and i'm very happy with it.

I don't know, its a pretty toad Elk. This one here scored top 370s and it looks tiny compared to your pic.

17-Sep-08
In all seriousness though, it's a nice bull, I'm still waiting for some meat! For all those nay-sayers, ER is a rather intimidating looking fellow. I've been to the gym with him and seen him bench 500+. He makes most guys at the gym look small, let alone the things he kills.

17-Sep-08
i have to say the mass on that thing is where you are throwing us. i would have wizzed my pants just before the shot. very nice rack design on that thing.

quit measuring that tongue with envy and give us the real score. :)

From: Tag Chef

Envy is a funny thing. I am surprised the game farm comments haven't surfaced yet....

From: Gray Ghost
17-Sep-08
Elkreaper,

I know for a fact that you put in your time scouting and hunting that bull. You deserve him and I'm glad you got him.

Elkreaper is a good friend of mine. I'm glad to see he's put all those hunting and archery tips that I've given him over the years to good work. ;-)

GG

From: bullelkklr
17-Sep-08
Did he have an arrow wound on him down low right behind the shoulder - a 2 year old wound? I think I hit his borther in 28 two years ago - never found him though - it was a 6 yard shot on him while he was bugling - arrow went clean through, and was low and tight to the elbow. They are in there - not easy to find though and few and far between.

As for the score - well - score doesn't matter - that is a real good bull for Colorado in any unit - no matter how you add him up.

You sure that tire isn't a 42 incher?

I can also vouch for the size of ELKREAPER! I can also say that there is not one person on this site, guides included, that have put in more time and effort scouting this past year. He spent EVERY weekend hiking, picking up sheds and learning the habits of the bulls in his unit. As you can see it paid off pretty well for him.

I have not seen the rack in person, but can tell that it is only slightly larger than the 5x5 that I took last Sunday;).I also am not a certified Internet Scorer from the B&S Society as many of you obviously are.

now thats an official big foot sighting.

good thing i didnt see you with that bull i would have wooped your ass and taken it..... :)

did you use the bow and arrow on him or just break his neck?

what i like the most is the style of his rack regardless of score. that thing is perfect.

That would be a curse if you are hung like a mouse instead of a moose!

Wow, I don't understand why my post was deleted?! All I said was that I liked Elkreaper's bull better than Carlton's bull because it had more of the characteristics that I liked! And now it's been deleted. Oh well.

You can't mess with wayne, He is the man and that's no joke. I don't know him or all morris personally but would like 2. They seem like the kind of guys you want in hunting camp.

I think it could have been the chit comment that got your post deleted. As far as the story on how i shot the bull, I think i have been stiring up the pot enough and telling the story about killing the bull may just redline everyone holychitameter, so i think i will keep it to myself or tell it in person when i meet some of you.

Thanks for almost everyones support

Dont matter what State forum your on, we all act the same!

Personally from Florida, any game taken with a bow one on one is an awesome experience. My heart beats just the same from a slickheaded nanny to a 150" Illinois buck. I couldnt imagine a 20-30 yard shot on a massive bull elk...Holy Smokes!

Its all about getting out and having fun, if the kill comes along great...but the time you spend in the woods is better than sex to me, well its lasts a heck of a lot longer Ill say!

Awesome Bull. Cant wait to deposit my NR fees in Colorado!

I sent a P.M 2 the rock and i also have spoken 2 Dennis doer about measuring it for me. I am going to go to the archery tournament in golden on the 6th of December and can bring it with me. I have had a DOW agent score it and several other people as well and it looks like it will score in the high 340's low 350's after drying.

As far as Alabama man goes, I have learned a few certainties in life.

I FEAR NO MAN AND SEVERAL WOMEN.
