Now that the Bear season is open anybody kill a an early monster
First picture I ever get of a wolf.. Got about 7 of this guy!
Ya I got a buddy who has a photo of four or five different wolves in the same picture. Hi figures there are 10-15 different wolves on his bait. Unreal, we got to do something about the predators in this province.
Nice pic.
How about Spring turkeys?
Congrats David, great bear !!
Nice Bear David. Congrats.
Way to go!! About time someone laid one out!
Way to go!! About time someone laid one out!
Oh yeah!! A turkalurka and then a big old bear! Good start to the spring! Congrats to the both of you!
Way to go David, he's a beauty.
look at this nice hide!! LOL.. This bear is a little jerk! wouldnt let me out of the tree the other day!
Should've killed him just because. Take him out of the gene pool.
Why? rubbed hide means bad gene pool?!
Thats a young male he was just pushed away from the sow. He is always with a female she has a great hide. he has huge feet already so i'm curious what he will look like in about 5 years...
Didn't think someone would take me seriously. Yikes. Had a buddy tell me that years ago when I smacked a buck with 4 on one side and 1 lonely ugly tine on the other. That's all there is to that story.
this thread doesnt seem to be doing so well this year. kinda of a late post but better late than never. shot this bear on may.13th at 8:45p.m, only ran 60 yards before the death moan. all caught on video. great night on stand!
Here is one from New Zealand did a ten day hunt with two friends from the states who were rifle hunting. with the gun hunters around it made it a bit difficult to bowhunt. not just cause they were shooting but more of a time issue. I shot 2 nanny thar with the bow and 2 bull thar and 1 chamois with the friends rifle on the day we were due to fly out. i will go again while im out here to get one of each with the bow, it was just a good way for me to get a few animals down and get some capes home for cheap. we also took one red stag and 3 fallow deer bucks and a total of 6 thar and 3 chamois it was a good trip! here is a pic of the bow kill nanny.
Post a pic of the big one! who cares if its a rifle kill!
Man you must have almost as many arrows as Katniss Everdeen or whatever the heck her name is! Way to go buddy.
here is a pic of my big bull thar i didnt measure the horns but i think somewhere in the 13 inch long range and second pic is my chamois. yes they are rifle kills i know big shame but im a hunter, and will be out again to get one of each with the bow. I have lost/broken about 15 arrow here so far. NZ is really hard on gear my bow is battered and scratched up bad broken fibres etc. etc. but still shoots good, might be onto some deer and pigs in the next month we will see then im off to Aussie.
duck mtns, June 2nd green scored 20 14/16. First time seeing this bear, was actually after a large color phase pictured the day before which I thought that bear or nothing. Very glad the tunnel vision came off.
the color phase from the day before.
im new to this site its a little late but here is a pic of the bear i got this year on a 1st year bait.. This is my 2nd year bear hunting and arrowed this 515lb bruin and green scored 22 10/16
Yikes!!! thats a monster im not a hundred percent sure but that may be a new manitoba record. definately top 3. way to go. congrats!!
Awesome bear, gotta love the Chuck Adams pose!
Whoa!! Beauty of a bear!! If not a record it'll be one of the top ones for the year for sure!
There are only 6 bears to ever break the 22 inch mark entered in the MBRC this one would rank 2nd all time! Pretty cool!
thanks guys! ill have the official net score on august 2nd after the 60 days of drying.
As far as I know the first week in June spring bear season, there were 3 bears that were shot that by bowhunters that "green" scored over 22 and possibly more that I don't know of that pretty good stats for Manitoba bear hunting
Good Jobs Guys
my bear lucky's score is locked in at 22 7/16 B&C
Hey guys shot this buck on august 30th. just starting to lose velvet. Got a few trail cam pics of him through august. Talk about a short season.
Wow, nice buck, congrats Carey
Very cool! Congrats! Now what?? Hahah!!
Great buck Carey, congrats....you kinda' look like you're cold ...LOL...!?
That is a very nice buck! Congratulations! I need one of those.
Thanks guys,a little sweated up after the drag. We weighed him at 250 lb. field dressed. Guess I'll be doing some fall fishing this year.
Awesome buck!! I'll draw up some kind of a 12 step program for you once November hits and you're in deer hunting withdrawl!! Congrats on a nice deer!
What a beauty though!! Worth ending the season for I'd say. And if you shot him on Aug 30th, I think that means you're in a zone for doe tags. Could always try and lengthen the season that way. At least give your November clothes one wear!
Congrats again, looks like a real nice buck!
Great Buck Carey! Congrats!
Congrats on a beautiful deer!!!
It seems that after 10 days and over 100 miles of walking calling and generally losing stuff and my mind, the Lord saw it fit to bless me with some elk meat (and bone)!
Words can not describe the level of pumptedness last night! It's a good thing, because there is always the work of getting these guys out!
He came in to my buddy Manuel and I as we walked into a swamp. We were cow calling the odd time because we knew we were in elk. A 19 yard walking shot sent him running, but the cow calls stopped him at 45 yards, and we watched him tip over. What a feeling. I saw the nokturnal enter and zip out of the elk and into a log. Very happy with the 150 gr. phatheads as well. It had been 6 days of hunting since the last elk sighting, and 3 sightings over 9 days wasn't exactly what I was hoping for. I had a passed 2 different spikers on day 2 and 3 as I really wanted a racked bull. My wish came true with 2 days left. Hunting in 3 stints helped to keep me motivated, as other than yesterday it had been all lone wolf hunting until that point.
Very happy my dad loaned me a quad, as we deboned other than front shoulders and ribs (took them whole), but still all done, netted 175 lb. of meat each. So we were packing 400lb of meat out, over 2.5 miles, I have to say - the quad took it like a champ!
Congrats! An accomplishment to be proud of.
Congratulations! The stars defintiely lined up for you. Passed up on two elk while hunting with a pointy stick! Hmmmm.....I've never even considered passing up on an elk. Good job.
Congrats on a great bull!!
Well done sir! Congrats!!!
Thanks for the kind words guys! Still on a high 2 days later!
Congrats!!! Nothing gives a guy a high like elk hunting!! Good job guys!
Thats a beauty elk boys .... Congrats :)
I shot this Elk on the 8th of September, my hunting partner Rob and myself drove to Ducks in the morning getting there pretty late we new that we wouldn't make it to our camp in time seeing it a 10k walk so we decided to hunt close to where we park are truck. Got out to an area we have hunted in the past, it was getting late so we let out a bugle and got a response immediately, ran over to a clear cut where the bull was. I moved up about a hundred yards from Rob where he keeped bugling t6o the bull, I started cow calling, making the bull think cows had separated from the bull, he came into 30 yards and got an arrow stuck in him, Rob bugled and the elk tried to bugle back, that was his last breath. I was pumped 2 hours into the hunt bull down. My best one to date. Thanks Rob for being there to call him in.
Congrats Dave - Awesome bull!!!
Way to go guys! Nice bulls!

Got some cool photo's last week. took this one from about 400 yards..
You took that guy at 400 yards? You must have been shooting a compound!
Kid from Birtle shot this guy last week. I think his name is Tyler Wilson. Pretty nice buck........dang kids are always showing us up!!
Holy smokes. That thing is a stud. just looks old too.
Wasn't sure it was going to happen this year but it came down to the last few days of the season. I was out with my nephew on thursday evening, when a spike bull came into the calls and he made the 18 yard shot to close the deal. On saturday evening I was on my own walking through an area, moving slow and cow calling when a bull responded. I set up and continued to call, which brought in the cows, had one walk by me at 20 yards. She began to get down wind of me, eventually winded me and to my advantage she ran away from the heard. I then cow called the bull bugled back and I cut him of with a challenge. Well he came unglued, came running in, I stopped him with a cow call and made the 22 yard shot with my recurve. He jumped a few yards, stopped again after I cow called, stood looking back at me for about fifteen seconds. He then began to stumble away but only made it another 20 yards and I saw him go down within 50 yards of me. We were blessed with two elk in three days along with some great memories.
thats a really cool looking bull. congrats!
here is the buck i was after this fall. didnt take as long as i thought it would to seal the deal but i'll take it. my best buck to date and got a few trail cam pics of this buck too! got it yesterday morning nice and early
Wow way to go guys! I'd love to see another angle of that bull Darryl. His left side looks cool. Awesome woth a recurve too man that's great!
Congrats on a cool looking elk Darryl !!! Great buck Justin, Pick out something cool for me to do with him. I love those end of September capes !!
Nice animals guys! Congrats
Forgot to post this duphis. Caught him wandering by when I was waiting for bugles early September.
Great job on the elk Darryl and nice buck Justin!!
One less wiley coyote is not gonna hurt anyone's feelings. Good job Adam!
Got my first ever archery moose yesterday. Caught him on the edge of a slough pestering a cow. Put a stalk on him when they laid down in some catails and managed to get him with a 37 yard shot when they stood up. The funny part was they had moved about 70 yards from where they originally bedded down and when we got to where we could see the spot they were supposed to be in they stood up right beside us.
Man those guys are tough though. He walked about 200 yards before going down. I stuck another one in him when he managed to get back up but he was pretty well finished anyway. Double lungs both shots and one just clipped the heart a bit.
Now we just gotta get my hunting partner one.
congrats on a great first archery moose! good luck to your partner
Wow those are some good animals guys .... Congrats :)
Adam, way to persevere and get it done on your elk. Here is another pic of my elk.
Dave, congrats on an awesome bull.
Justine, that's a great buck, way to got.
Tim looks like your set for winter as far as meat goes, congrats on your first moose.
Hey way to go Tim!! The smile says it all! That is sure a sweet kill, and you can't beat moose meat for sure. Something about taking a new species always adds an extra thrill so congrats on getting it done! (and for some reason I find that if you're able to get a second arrow into the same animal it is somehow extra rewarding. Kind of like a two for one I guess)
Thanks for the extra look Darryl, that sure is an awesome looking unique elk!! What a memory and boy he'll look good in any room! Man that elk is just so cool.

Well yesterday my hunting partner Reg filled his tag with his first ever moose. We set up over looking a slough in the center of a bush pasture and made one cow call when this guy started coming in. To our left about 80 yards a cow came out of the bush and started stomping towards us with her ears pinned back and her hackles up. She came in to about 30 yards and stood there all mad as could be. Another small bull came out behind her and started moving towards us too. Luckily the big fellow hung up and the other two finally must have figured something was up because they slowly moved off. After a couple more cow calls the big guy started moving our way again. Reg had set up about 50 yards away from me and I cow called some more at the big guy and he slowly moved closer. He hung up until I moved back with our cow Montana Decoy. I guess he decided that he'd better come over for a closer look and he came across the dry end of the slough right out in front of Reg. 40 yard shot and the bull ran past me and walked over to a small bluff where we lost sight of him. We backed out and gave him a long 3 hour wait because Reg felt he'd maybe hit him a bit far back.
After an eternity we headed back in and low and behold found a cow and 2 calves in the same bluff. We didn't want to spook them in case the bull was still alive so we just took our time and glassed over the bluff as good as we could. After a bit I saw a strange looking very straight stick which looked a bit odd. Took me a second before I realized it was his arrow with the broadhead sticking straight up in the air. Yup we were pretty happy and relieved that he had died almost where we lost sight of him.
It's been a great moose season for us. Both of us tagged out on our first ever archery moose and we had a blast doing it. Reg is getting a shoulder mount done on his bull. We measured it and it came out at 48 inches. (not exactly sure if we did that right but it's gotta be close)
WOW great pictures and story Gumby. Heck of bull. A thrill you'll both remember foreever.
