The title says it all, if you shoot a big buck this weekend or take a kid hunting, some of us still like to see your pictures even if they are gun kills. Good Luck to all.

This is my son Wyatt's first deer. He got it about 8am this morning. This was the 2nd buck we saw. He kept working the surrounding timbers, then finally worked down the edge of our pasture towards us & started working over a scrape. I steadied his bi-pod, he kept him in the scope of his muzzleloader & nailed him from 69 yards when I gave him the OK to take him. Nice double lung & he went 50-60 yards. Wyatt was VERY excited, as was I. All that practice over the last couple years, paid off. I was very proud of the shot he made & the patients he showed on this hunt.
Just under a 20"spread, 8pts (one g3 busted) & 133# Well worth missing a day of 2nd grade & me missing work for...8^)

First buck with Grandpa, that will be one he'll remember. I have many fond memories of hunting with my grandfather when I was young also. Congrats to you both on a couple nice bucks.

tagged out during the first gun season (one bow kill in early Nov and this ML kill) - this was my daughter's first hunting trip and we saw lots of deer - she is now hooked on whitetail hunting! i feel very fortunate for her to have had a good experience and end up liking deer hunting.

I have been mentoring a youth for 2 seasons. He quit yesterday, having never seen a deer. I don't blame him. I definitely learned something from the experience........have good private land available or don't do it. We were trying to get by drawing public land permits, and drew 3 over that time. However, these were for special 3 to 5 day hunts in the western Chicago burbs where we live. I probably did more damage to this kid's curiosity about hunting, than good.
I also really hated setting up 2 man fixed position stands multiple times due to changing wind and short seasons. This was just too dangerous to me anymore. I almost exclusively use my LW climber these days for safety alone. I am attached to the tree at all times.
