Anyone finding any scrapes near Montevallo?

I have been hunting a couple of places in the Cahaba WMA. In one place the scraping and bucks chasing does are are in full swing. In another place just a few miles down the road the activity is zero and the bucks are still hanging out together. It's Alabama for you.

We were seeing active scrapes in Sumter county during bow season. A buddy shot an 8 pt. working a scrape on opening weekend of bow season. DC, you hunting in a club or strictly Cahaba?

I'm strictly hunting public lands and a couple of private lands with a few deer on them. Cahaba, Oakmulgee and National Forest. Some friends place in Chilton County,Shelby County and sometimes in Winston.
I'm looking to get in a club if the price and location is right.

After I asked that question I had a meeting with a buddy of mine and he said him and Skip met you hunting on the Forever Wild property. They are good guys. I've known both of them most of my life.

Yes we did meet and both were very nice and we seemed to have alot in common. These guys are hard hunters making the trip to the back side of the property we were hunting. That's a pretty good haul. J.D. gave me his number and we may be able to hunt together some day. I didn't get Skips. I think he forgot to give it to me. Small World.

You can trust them both if you tell them anything you don't want others to know. They have both been heavy bow hunters most of their lives. Skip is one of the reasons I got into bowhunting. He was my neighbor growing up as well as my sunday school teacher.

Saw freshly used scrapes and watched a nice buck chasing does all over the woods but couldn't get a good enough read on him to know if he was a shooter or not. Had pretty white antlers though.

Darrin - I felt like they were people I could trust just from talking with them. I showed them footage of a six point that I had passed on that very day and even told them where he was. They said they were the type that would rather shoot a doe then take a young buck with good potential. I liked that!
Anyways the scrapes are showing up now. I have seen some chasing and a couple of bucks cruising but the hot weather has got most of them working overtime at night. If your lucky you might catch one out late in the mornings trying hard to get in the last bit of cool air before the sun heats it up.
Between the hot, dead calm air and listening to the crickets in broad daylight, it's enough to make you want to hunt a place to nap!

I saw a few deer this weekend but not what I normally see. This weather has them slowing down again. Didn't see much rut activity this weekend.
