Well, From looking at the meat pole here and all I can find on the net it seems they are chasing for sure this week could be good...
I'm very curious to find out what's really going on in central oklahoma. My family and I have a farm just southeast of okc and I'm seeing some absolute giant deer on cams but little daytime movement of these monsters. Im in the stand every chance the coditions allow and nothing to speak of yet. Anyone else hunting or seeing any real activity near lexigton?
On November 8th I was hunting in Welch, Ok up by the KS state line. I saw 5 bucks in 2 hours and 0 does. I shot this buck at 8:30 am and he was the best one I saw. Not chasing just looking, but lots of other people I have talked to have had them chasing pretty hard core. It is here!
Had a buck come in and wind check a scrape last weekend. Didnt see any chasing. Full moon this weekend....
Have seen bucks chasing and harassing does in the last week. At Mcalester some of the bucks were in full rut; chasing and grunting and many bucks showed broken tines. They were checking their scrapes too.
Gulfcoast,, I hunt Pott and Lincon County and I have seen a few small bucks that were out looking in day light .Saw both around 10:00 am this was 3 or 4 days ago.I can hunt this weekend but, looks warm and windy I hope the rut will over ride that some..Best of luck to all of you...
2 days ago I heard chaseing and grunting at two different times. Checked the one camera at that stand which borders a large CRP field and lots of young deer showing up wth busted tines and snappef beams at all hours of the day. They must be fighting heavy because 2 of those bucks were fine as of tuesday. Rattled there a bit wth no luck.
I have seen 4 does and a spike this morning just pasding through. Jumped a couple walking in. About to get off the stand here in a few minutes but I thought I'd post before I do.
As of now, very few deer are coming to corn and one stand hasn't had a deer for almost a week, but one spot is completly the opposite having 5 to 6 bucks show up each night. 2 years ago while hunting in illinois I bought 14 bags of that acorn rage from an outfitter up there who was trying to get rid of it after they apparently outlawed it. So I bought this stuff for 2.50 a bag and figured I'd dump some out end of season last year and see what happens. I know it seems like a cheesy gimic and I have always been skeptical of crap like this but In the last month I've put out 4 bags at this one stand and now the seem to perfer it to corn as a high energy supliment. All of these bucks are on a regular nightly pattern coming in and hitting this stuff for a few minutes at a time. The biggest ones ( 150ish and 170 ish) are still solitary coming in really close to legal shooting hours. None are with does nor do they seem to be activly seeking. Just waiting for the rihht wind now :).
Heres the "smallest" of the three big guys wth his nose buried in this stuff.
I know up around chelsea and alluwe bucks are with does all over the place. Wednesday night I saw 3 does together but also saw 2 different does with bucks following along and a small 6pt cruising.
Not going out west yet 3 days ago 3 nice bucks still togather not right i know for this time of yr.Will update after next few days of hunting.
Had 4 bucks pass through this morning from 730 - 10. Two were hard chasing and one brute of a 7pt actually locked down with a doe for a few hpurs. Forgot to grab my card from my camera there so I went back at one wth my son on the golf cart and damn if I didn't nearly run this guy and his doe over 50yrds from the stand. It took a lot of restraint to pass this guy... several times this morning.
Its going off here in central Ok bigtime.
That's a nice one GC..I couldn't pass on him..But, I have only seen a real small buck so far this year went out this past weekend .I think I bumped a doe and buck didn't get a good look. The wind and temps were too high. I didn't see much movement. Now , back to work ..Good luck to all of you..
Watched a BIG buck this morning as he walked across the road in fron of me as he was harassing a doe. He didn't care if I was there or not - as he had one thing on his mind! Just down the road from my farm - I need to be hunting this big rascal!!!!
Update from out west custer county hunted sun-monday and seen 2 nice bucks 130 in.8 pt following a doe and a 140 in 9 pt.dogging a doe hard both in the am. also had 3 smaller bucks giving does a hard time. this week should be great time to be in stand just wish it wasnt opening day of rifle this weekend.
Saw a great buck chasing hard in Ellis county yesterday.
This morning I called in a good buck. He is one the meat pole. I saw 3 does just prior to calling him in. He was beat up pretty bad from fighting. He had a big gouge in one front shoulder and 1 hind. I was hunting just north of the red river outside of calera.
Had a good 10 come in this morning. Had him at 7 yrds ...mid 130ish... following a doe. He caught me eating an apple though .:) Watched another doe run through the field towards me never stopped once covering 400+ yrds of ground. Checked cams on my lunch break. Lots of bucks moving all hours.
Pearcer1971, did you rattle him in or grunt? Aggressively?
Dakota, I rattled lightly and grunted a couple of times and he came in quick. He was real close because it was under 5 minutes from the time I picked up the calls until he was right under my stand.
Anybody see anything this morning?
Anybody see anything this morning?
I saw 7 does and 1 little buck. One of my cameras on a small field had 14 deer cross it between 730 and 9 this morning. Our storm finally broke about 130.
Saw 14 does and 2 bucks, both were trying pretty hard but the girls weren't having it,
Sat this morning and litetally froze to the stand. Saw lots of ice.
Went back out and saw a few small bucks and a bobcat. Came back in tonight and checked the camera from that stand. had 7 pics just 20 minutes before I walked in at 2:47pm of the largest 8 point I've ever seen in my life. 15 yrds from the stand. Oh well.
this may be the weirdest year i can remember. I have hunted near Ada, near Porum, Near Henryetta, and not really seen a ton of activity in the last two and a half weeks. hunted near Ada yesterday saw doe and yearling three other guys saw 3 deer total not to mention cold and damp. paying my dues keep plugging good luck to all keep safe in the woods.
Snuck in at 5am. Sat through 4 periods of ice and snow blowing in my face. Nothing.
Went back again at 2 pm. Stalked up on several deer already at my stand but no bucks. Sat till 5:15 before I saw my first deer coming towards me.. the giant 8 that I had barely missed 20 minutes before getting to the stand yesterday. Just a chance over-the-shoulder glance and there he was 25 yrds and closeing! Waited until he passed behind a cedar to turn and draw back my DXT (which was completly covered in ice). When he popped out he was at 8 yrds facing me and staring me down. Wasn't going to give him a chace to split so i planted one just between the neck and shoulder. Arrow disapeared barb shaft and feather and did not exit. Don't think he realized exactly whay had happened.
He went about 10 yards back behind me and disapered behind a cedar. I kept thinking I diddnt hear him crash... knew I didn't miss. A couple of minutes went by and then ((((THUD)))). Souded like a sack of concrete hitting the ground.
I am super excited to have taken 2 amazing deer in 2 years off of the same stand. Passed a lot of good deer and waited patiently for the right days to get in and do the job. Thank you lord for my second p/y this year!
God bless all and best of luck on the rest of your seasons.

Congrats gc thats awesome yr. Iam still after them out west still seeing some action but starting to slow down bigger bucks in hidding or lock down last few days only seeing small bucks now but be back out on stand fri - mon.
Had this young 10 pointer come in this morning at 930. He came in to a rattle and can call. He was looking for the doe and then fed his way out of the field. Passed on him since I have seen 3 bigger 8's in the past week.
Not sure what that pic is on my prior post. I have never seen it before. Try again on the buck I passed on this morning
This buck was following a doe in Edmond Friday that crossed the road in front of us.
I am starting to see a little activity of smaller bucks following does again here in Southern OK. I had a couple sparing this morning. The shooters are starting to move a lot earlier in the evening also. I am starting to think the second rut might be starting down here. With the weather and everything this weekend might be a good one. Any one else seeing much movement?
At my house I have a lot of resident does on 10 acres. In the last week we have had 2 new 8 pointers and a 6 pointer showing up to harass the does. This is the most bucks we have seen thus far this fall on our little plot...
At our lease according to trail cam pics daytime buck movement is on an upswing as of December 2nd...
NE Oklahoma
Also seen little late rut action out western ok on the 10th thru 12th only shooter i have seen came to late at least one good buck still around be back out this wk end if not to much ice out here. GOOD LUCK TO ALL STILL CHASING THEM !!!!
