Anyone ever hunt in deep heavy snow? Up here in parts of 9H we received over 30" of snow and I'm wondering if it’s even worth going out and sitting the filed edges? I was hoping to bring the bow but at this point I may bring both the bow and the ML.

If it was me I would try to hunt some thicker bedding areas in pines or hemlocks where there is less snow.

Good advice from bas4109, in our area they travel just inside the woods next to the open fields, good luck

If you have time to wait let them travel a little. They will try to stay on the trails when it is that deep.

Yes I hunt "deep" snow a lot (1-2' on the ground)

+1 to all the advice above!

Be sure to have SILENT clothing if you don't have a little wind. The stillness can be profound if the snow isn't super fluffy...

we got 9 inches and I am sick of it already.

I hunted deep snow a few years back at the end of the season. When I went to get in my stand the next day the deer were using my tracks where I had walked as they would a deer trail. They will take the path of least resistence when the snow piles up.

Well I went out Sat & Sun and it was tough!! I'm in southern WNY and out total snow fall was between 55"-60" depending where you were. I picked up some new deer trails and followed slowly and silently and sure enough I can across them feeding on some left over hanging apples. Now 5 doe was not what I was hoping to see but it was fun to hunker down in 60" of snow and just watch them work in snow that deep. Thanks for the advice fellas, I'm hoping to get out tomorrow and maybe get a shot at the biggie. Good luck and happy holidays!

Rumor has it they got around three feet up in Redfield and Osceola the other day. I think it will be kind of deep.

Pat... I asked my daughter in law who lives in Tagerg and she said her friends in Boonville said four to five feet on the ground.
