I'm from Co @ been on 3 guided Blacktail hunts.Trying to complete my deer slam. So far no luck. Kinda tired of supporting guides that do not seem to know their business. Would appreciate any help. Do not need a monster just average buck. Am retired so time no problem. Thanks again for your help
OOPS sorry-what would you suggest would be a good way for me to archery hunt a blacktail to complete my slam? Also which season & any suggestions. Thanks a bunch-panelbeater
I`ve tried 2 times DIY as a nonresident with no luck or really any chance. Was thinking about looking at a guided try. Mind me asking what guide/ outfitters you used. Thanks
I used fins & feathers-nice guys but they are rifle hunters-in 7 days never got a shot-neither did hunter from bowhunter mag that was there with me---pm sent
Mick,
If you're looking for a guided Blacktail deer hunt, I'd suggest that you contact Kenny Wilson at Spoon Creek Outfitters. I'm sure you can get their contact infor through Googling them. They specialize in Roosevelt Elk and Blacktail deer in southwest Oregon. I know that they have experience with bowhunting. I think they could probably do you a pretty good job!
Many thanks for all the replys-This is all helping-hopefully I can do a better job next time-thanks again Bob

These guys have been killing big bucks for a long time. They know their stuff.
Chris beat me to it. SOB you can't go wrong with them. I grew up with them and they KNOW there stuff.
But you had better be in Great shape. 25 miles is nothing to them. The price is high for a reason. They are Just that good.
Mike is a great guy , so is his dad Art. Mike shot the new Black powder record book buck I think you can read about it in the Eastmans mag.
AS you most likely know now, blacktails like thick cover, and they are never easy! Hard to connect on a buck during a limited time hunt. But since you're retired, your best bet would be to come on out and rent a place for the late season, so that you'd have the time to get on a buck. Foliage is less then as well, increasing visibility. Good luck
