Hello IBA brothers and sisters. I cannot believe how quickly time passes. Our 2014 banquet is just a few weeks away - March 1.

*First item of business is to order those tickets. Contact me and get those tickets reserved. This needs to be done before February 21. “WHY” you ask? We have to turn in the meal numbers early to ensure enough food is served to accommodate all our banquet attendees. *Second item is to review your potential nominations for two of our most prestigious awards: • Bowhunter of the Year– This award is given to the IBA member who has stood out by promoting and / or protecting the sport of bowhunting and has also shown bowhunting success. And • Youth Sportsman of the Year– This award is given to the IBA member who is under 18 years of age and who has stood out by promoting and / or protecting the sport of bowhunting. This may include helping others learn how to shoot, helping at bowhunting functions, ect. If you know of somebody that is worthy of either of these awards, please talk with your district rep or another member of the executive committee about nominating them.

*Third item is to remind you about the competitions we have during the banquet: Photography – picture must be at least a 5 x 7 print. Matted and / or framed is recommended. • Bowhunting Success – pictures of hunters with harvested game • Bowhunting Related – game animals, bowhunters practicing, scouting, hunting, relaxing in camp, goofing off, scenic, outdoor activities, etc. • Trail Camera – trail camera pictures of past season • Youth Success – open to any weapon – member must be under 18 years of age. Arrow Making – this is a single arrow presentation that must have been made (at a minimum fletched) by the IBA member submitting. There is no restriction on attached point; however, broadheads must NOT be sharp. • Youth – Must have been made by an IBA individual that is under 18 years of age. • Modern (includes aluminum, carbon, etc.) • Traditional (wood only) Taxidermy – this is a presentation of a mount that an IBA member usually enjoys within their home and would like to share with the membership. The taxidermy does not have to have been done by the IBA member. Mounts must be done tastefully. • Best of Class

So in conclusion – get those tickets ordered and start reviewing those photographs you took last hunting season. You might also get a head start on next season by making a batch of arrows, and putting a little extra effort into one of them to show off.
