Looks like a woman gets to start this year's meat pole! My wife Shannon with a javelina she took last week in south Texas.
Here she is again with a pig the next day.
She did let me hunt a little bit!
....and so it begins!
Congrats Shannon and Dirk!
Seeing these photos this morning kind of made the hair stand up on the back of my neck. Just last night, I was going through some old IBA newsletters and came across the one with Tony and his South Texas javelina on the cover. Dirk, you had a photo in there too...holding a rattlesnake.
Talk about timing...I had not seen that issue in years!
Congrats to the grandparents to be! :)
Thanks guys, I think I've created a monster! She's really getting into this now. Next up is bear in Canada this August. Thanks Terry I see you've heard Ariel is giving us another little bowhunter this summer. Duel Remington Maxie will be with us in a couple more months.
Exciting times. Best of luck on the bear hunt. Tell Shannon she's accomplished a feat that I haven't. I've hunted Javelina twice and have yet to arrow one. I'm jealous! :)
Congrats to you both, on the critters and the approaching grandbaby! Looks like you found some cool weather down there.
Nice piggies and javie. Congrats!
Another. I actually killed 3 on this last trip.
May as well start off the turkey kill pics. Arrowed this one Wednesday morning. A good average size Tom with 7/8 spurs.
Here's wishing success to all of you.
Great bird Greg, congrats!
Congrats Greg! I finally put it together on my 3rd trip out. Solid bird with 10" beard and 1" spurs. Taken at 10 yards without a blind with my Stalker Coyote longbow and Snuffer tipped wood arrows.
I know it's a NY bird, but I still feel like a Hoosier.
Beauty of a bird, and that's a great-looking bow you've got there too!
Atta boy Terry! (Still a Hoosier in my book too.)
Opening morning finally and bittersweet! 23 lbs, 10" beard and 1.5" spurs. Big bird! My first set up ended with a shot from another hunter. Moved to a new location and had one gobbling going to a big field. He beat me to it, so I waited until he was almost out of hearing in the field. Snuck up to where he entered the field and did some aggressive calling. An hour later and he was in my lap.
Finally the spawn has started
Dang Chris....appears the bar has been set!
Congrats!
Uh-oh....more competition named Turpchinoff!
Congrats Lexy!
I've been out 3 nights this past week and have been introducing some kids and adults to the sport of bowfishing. Probably 250 shots taken and not so many of them hits. Darn refraction can be pretty frustrating. Still a ton of fun and looks like we have 5 new converts. Have taken 2 boys (6 and 15), one lady, and 2 new guys to bowfishing. Don't know how to do multiple pictures on a post so I'll just put up a couple consecutive.
This is the first group with a few nice fish.
Here's the second night's take.
And this was from last night. He did really well for being a first timer.
Awesome photos! Way to introduce new people to the sport Terry
Nice. Are you shooting from a boat or just along the banks?
Recent trip to Shiloh Ranch for the Porkapalooza.
Second hog of the Porkapalooza.
Mike you sure kill some whopper hogs!
Congratulations!
Made a quick bear hunt up to New Brunswick. I left Thursday morning at 2 AM and was in the stand hunting by 3 PM. Had at least three different bears come in. One was a tall and lanky young brown nosed boar, the other was also tall and lanky young black nosed boar, and the third was a nasty old sow that was the fattest and shortest legged sow I've ever seen. She had an attitude as well. She climbed up on the ladder to my stand 3 times and on the 3rd time I reached down and whacked her on the nose with my longbow. I saw one other really big bear later, but it never cleared brush and I wasn't positive it wasn't the belly dragging sow. It was a great night. The next morning I went to the stand early 5:30 AM in hopes of stalking a bear on the bait. There was a bear, but it appeared to be the black nosed young boar from the night before. He ran off and I climbed into the stand. At 9:24 AM I saw a nice boar coming in. He had a nice crease on his noggin and looked pretty big so I prepared for a shot. At the whopping distance of 4 yards I picked a spot and hit pretty much where I aimed. He went about 150 yards and turned out to be a pretty good bear that weighed 257#s and his green scored head is 18 12/16" P&Y.
Wow....great big boar hogs & a hawg boar bear, boys!
(Say that three times fast...lol)
Thanks for sharing your pics guys!
Super bear, Terry. Congrats.
My son took this on a February Alberta hunt I took him on.
That's a great lion Grant!
Beautiful animal and country Greg. Congratulations
Fantastic 'bou Greg! Congratulations!
Nice bull and shot placement Greg!
Sure is beautiful country!
Congrats Greg! I heard you killed a GOOD one!
Yikes!....I'd call that a trophy Carp!
I'm not a guide, but I did take these two good friends alligator hunting in Florida last week. We had a great time and we saw over 100 gators in the short 7 hours we hunted before filling the two tags.
One was a good solid 9' gator and the other a 10' gator.
Here's a picture of me trying to get the 9' gator by the mouth so we could kill it with a pocket knife. After the 3rd time of having it by the snout and then it doing a death roll, the fellow helping me said "Didn't you make a noose thing just for this reason?". Oh yeah, I guess I'll use it! :)
Terry congrats to the gator hunters, very impressive. Your track record proves that you have those beasts figured out!
Got more meat for the 'pole' in Colorado this week. The
full story with more pictures is posted over on the main forum pages.
Great goat and bou guys. Awesome!
Very nice! Just saw your caribou write-up on the main forum page. You've added fuel to the fire for my son & I to consider booking a trip with Jack Hume within the next few years.
Congrats on the billie and the bou's guys. Read both of your photo journals on the main forum. Incredible experiences for you both!
Fantastic animals and hunts. Great job by all.
My daughter, Grace killed her first deer yesterday evening. It was a great hunt. She said her favorite part was the 4 minute "stare down" the buck gave us before deciding we were ok and offering her an 18yd shot. She hit him a little high but got both lungs and had a short track job. Pete (Proud Daddy)
I was fortunate enough to take my first elk on the 18th in New Mexico while hunting with my Dad and a good friend. That twenty yard shot fulfilled a boyhood dream for me!!! Pete
I thought that I had posted Grace's turkey from this Spring, but I see that I didn't get it added. Her first longbeard :) Pete
What a great year so far Pete!
I would ask if you have ever been more excited than being face to face with a bull elk....but the 1st and 3rd photos answer that question!
Great job Grace!
Congrats to you both!
Congrats on your success Pete & Grace. Your freezer should be stuffed full !
Now those are some awesome photos! Congrats to you both.
Thanks a lot guys! It has been an AMAZING year for me already and the regular season just opened today. My wife asked if I was hunting this weekend and when I said probably, she replied, "Well don't kill anything. I'm tired of you butchering pretty much every evening." She did come around and tell me I could shoot if it's a deer worth putting on the wall :)
I am very blessed that my daughter loves to hunt with me! She has always wanted to do what Daddy was doing. But now I see that she has a love for being outdoors and the hunt beyond just being with me. Super excited about all of the memories we can make together and all of the life lessons that hunting will teach her!
Good luck to all of you this season! I hope that yours is as fulfilling as mine has been already! Pete
That's awesome Pete! What good times and memories you are making.
Good Luck to everyone this fall. The best time of year for sure. Enjoy!
Dave
Took a nice young deer on Wed with my longbow. Will be great eating. Tina told me to not let anything walk so the 1 1/2 will eat good.
Had a good time at Big Sky outfitters with Bud Williams. Seen more Deer in 4 days than I will see in Indiana all season.
Had some nice antelope out there in Montana also.
Congratulations Arrow! Awesome animals and an awesome trip for sure.
Been waiting to see those photos....congrats on the Montana double Tim!
Guess I'll start the deer pics. I can't imagine that nobody has posted a Hoosier whitetail pic yet.
12 yard shot, hit high but spined the doe. Worse part, I can't find the broadhead. Passed through the spine and broke off somewhere.
Now let's get some cooler temps going!
Best of luck to everybody. Be safe!
Update, I went back and found the Stinger 4 blade broadhead 2 days after I shot the deer. Love the Magnus and just too cheap to buy another one.
Dad's eleven point taken the evening of November 1st. This buck broke off a G5...or he would be a typical twelve point. Dad is 73 years young and still showing us how it is done!
Congrats to your Dad, Paul. Heck of a buck and still shooting a vertical bow!
congrats to your Dad Paul. awesome buck
Wow that's a real nice looking buck, congrats to your Dad.
Good deal for him! Bless him!
Very cool Paul. Congrats to your dad.
Best of luck to the rest of you all.
My brother's doe from this morning
At 10:15am Saturday, the 24th deer sighting of the day was a shooter. It was one of those memorable November rut mornings on stand for sure.
great job paul gets it done again
Great deer Paul. Sounds like an awesome day.
Beautiful buck (as usual) Paul !
I like his big brow tines.
My brother's trad double from a couple Sunday's ago. Public land somewhere. Killed with a 60 year old Pearson recurve I got for $20 off Craigslist. These are his 3rd and 4th deer with the bow.
Bill was my dad's second cousin or some such. He was a heck of a guy.
Had a nice day on Monday last week and killed this doe in the morning.
I then went back out and killed this buck in the afternoon.
Chris connected this morning on a nice doe in tough conditions at Clifty Falls
Love the photo in the snow!
Congrats to all the successful deer hunters.
Took this doe 11/15. Pretty stoked with my first bow kill of the year on the gun opener!
Congrats varmint101....you earned it!
Great deer. Congratulations everyone.
My wife said the kids love deer meat and it will make a great Christmas present. They take suitcases of the stuff back to college with them. On Monday I picked up 160#s of burger and she said we need to make some Jerky for the kids.
I had one last tag and one last chance to hunt on Saturday. #6 for the year and the freezer is full.
