"In response to the Sandy Hook murders, Connecticut lawmakers hastily enacted a gun control law that mandates “assault weapon” registration. Suffice it to say that didn't go over well with most gun owners. So, rather than comply, they're staging a revolt of civil disobedience. Around 50,000 applications have been submitted, meaning somewhere between 20,000 and 100,000 residents are technically committing felonies for missing the deadline. And lawmakers are stumped. State Sen. Tony Guglielmo admitted, “I honestly thought … that the vast majority would register. If you pass laws that people have no respect for and they don't follow them, then you have a real problem.” No, the real problem is bad law written by legislators with no respect for constitutional rights. To them we say: molon labe."
Is this what will happen in NYS when April 15 comes around and all "assault weapons" have to be registered????

Not that I hold any hope for NY… this is a state where the appellate judge said that the stupid-Act was constitutional because it was in the interest of the state. WHAAAAaaaa?????!!!!!???
I'll stay here as long as I can still communicate the Gospel to folks. That probably won't be for long. As soon as the sodomites get the next "hate speech" bill passed (like they did in Canada) they'll be tossing people like me in the clink because my thoughts come out as words. Its happening now in Canada. Several pastors locked up there because they said men masturbating on men and calling it love, is a sin.
There is ample evidence that many sheriffs and other law enforcement are on record of not supporting "Safe Act" provisions and many of them are hunters and recreational shooters themselves. They will not be eager to enforce, particularly if things ever got to the point of confiscation. In that regard, it just blows my mind how totally these guys underestimate the extend to which the citizens of this country value their Second Amendment rights and their hunting and shooting traditions.
I hope things never get to that point but I'm pretty sure if it did, gun owners will not now or ever go quietly into the night.
Meanwhile, NYS legal AR's are being sold. No muzzle attachment or threads, no pistol grip, magazine with 10 rounds (7 round thrown out in court). Go that route Pat and you can use your gun with impunity....

Another issue is with a flash hider (made as a aprt of the barrel, not a screw on attachment) and a muzzle brake (permanenetly pinned on). I'm thinking "high speed grinder, here I come".... to remove them after the end of the bore, thus saving on having to spend hundreds more on recrowning tools....

I haven't met a person yet who will register in April.
There must be something that goes in place of the mag release button, or else the mag won't stay in place. CA has such a regulation and I have seen CA stuff for sale that replaces the mag release with something that you would need a bullet point to push in to release the amgazine....
FOod for thought. I ordered 2 Thordsens today too....

Q: I have an "bad" upper in one room and a lower in the shed. Is this a non-compliant rifle:
A: No. Not until they are combined
Of course, we are all grownups, and it will all boiw down to what judge we are standing in front of, who answers the phone at the Sherriff's ofice, which LO you run into, etc., etc., etc.
Just a FWIW...
State Police: well, they are employed by the gubner, so... for each LO it will be a matter of character and patriotism.
Get all the facts from NYS Rifle and Pistol and S.C.O.P.E. they are abou the only folks from whom you can EXPECT to get solid fact concerning this...crap.

I received 2 Thordsen stocks on Monday. They are improved over the one that I purchased 3 months ago. The new stocks have a screw on recoil pad that comes with the stock, increasing the LOP by 1/2". The stocks are the exact length as my other rifles at 13.5". However, due to the change in hand positioning, the Thordsen still feels at least 1/2" short. But, the good news is, they are much more easily modified for more length by simply removing the 2 screws, getting longer screws and putting a shim of your dimension in place and reattaching the recoil pad with the longer screws.
They still don't feel as nice as a pistol grip like a Hogue, as the grip area is plain plastic and in need of a grippy surface like Hogue overmolding (just in that area).
