CAES Overpaid White Buffalo by $55,152.48 for 2014 & 2015

On January 9, 2014 the CT DEEP removed ( 100 deer ) from the contract of the CAES and White Buffalo, Inc. for the ITM study. This amount ( 100 deer ) represents 66.66% of the total ( 150 deer ) $82,737.00 contract price that WB signed for years two and three. White Buffalo`s contract should be paid to reflect the 66.66% reduction of work for years two and three, which comes to approximately ( - ) $55,152.48. This amount ( $55,152.48 ) should be deducted from the contract price. If WB has already been paid for 2014 ( $50,230.00 ) which we believe they have, then they should not be paid the final $ 32,507.00 owned under the current, pending contract for year three services and be required to return the over payment amount of ( $ 22,645.48 ) to the CDC ITM study.

The CAES renewed the White Buffalo, Inc. contract on 1/17/14 without reflecting the CT DEEP changes of 1/9/14, ( minus 100 ) deer change. Why ?

White Buffalo, Inc. is being paid $17,600.00 for deer processing ( butchering ) under the three year CDC ITM study contract. Monies spent to date for ( 28 ) deer, butchered and distributed were $1,680.00 in 2013. White Buffalo was overpaid for deer processing in 2013 and 2014 by $12,720.00 and should be required to return this amount to the CDC ITM study. According to the CAES ( Connecticut Agricultural Experiment Station ) records, an Oxford, CT butcher donated the butchering of deer for 2013 & 2014. In 2014 the Oxford butcher received 24 deer but none of the processed meat went to the " Food Bank ", hunger program which is the mandatory guideline protocol required under the " Hunt to Feed " program and the ITM study contract. This is just the latest misstep of the ITM Tick Study in Redding, CT.

White Buffalo shooting out of bounds on both - 19 Top Ledge Road, both in 2013 ( 7 ) deer taken and again in 2014, ( 5 ) deer; ( 12 ) deer taken in total; 2,700` out of bounds ( 1/2 mile ) to West. Seventy Acres Road, both in 2013 ( 4 ) deer taken and again in 2014, ( 7 ) deer; ( 11 ) deer taken in total; 3,580` out of bounds ( 3/5 mile ) to West.

White Buffalo and the CAES by shooting outside the test sites for both 2013 & 2014 and illegally taking ( 23 ) deer from 19 Top Ledge Road and Seventy Acres Road; should not be allowed to kill / take another ( 25 ) deer in year three ( 2015 ) of the contract. The CDC ITM test currently underway in Redding, CT has lost all validity with these illegal actions.

Is anybody with authority investigating this? Or will this be chalked up as political miscue that will be swept under the carpet and their agenda will be allowed to continue

If this is a fact, contact the Redding Pilot Newspaper and they will put it in the Redding newspapers. The local residents need to be aware of this so the Town officials can address it with the spokesperson for White Buffalo and get the money refunded

Yes; both the State and the CAES ( financial ) are aware of the over payment amount of ( $ 22,645.48 ) to WB. Whether they agree with it and will do anything about it is another matter. As to WB shooting outside of the test areas in both 2013 & 2014 we are still waiting to hear from the commissioner.

airrow,

when you say we are waiting to hear, who is we? Sorry, but I don't know if you're afiliate with some organization or if you just mean we, as in bowhunters.

Your info is upsetting! With everything else that is so screwed up in this state should it be any wonder that the WB project would be any different????

If we only had someone we could ask about this ... perhaps a spokesperson for White Buffalo.

I wonder where one would go to find such a person.

BBB.. this state isn't screwed up.. it's corrupt to the core. Well, at least in the 'leadership'. Actually, we have no leadership.. we have people in leadership positions with not a clue of how to lead. Sadly, that's not just a state of CT problem.

Bowhunter,

couldn't agree more! We hear story after story about politicians taking advantage of donations, or getting bonuses without paying their taxes, or putting friends in high places, and it goes on and on.

Public service has gone from "service to the public" to one of the highest paying careers out there. Politicians go into office poor and come out rich.
