A few more weeks and the hunt starts again. Just waiting for my new Creed XS, a gift for my 40th from my family. I've been seeing a few thunder chickens along my drive to work on 66,17 and 177. Hopefully this year I can get one in the kill zone....

I saw a bunch of Toms strutting in a field in Ashford Friday evening, then yesterday on my way to work on 44 in Coventry, I had to slow down to let a hen with 3 toms in tow cross the road. Can't wait for Jr week to start this Saturday. New land and a chance for my 15 year to get his first!!!

I shoot em with the bow. A little more challenging but I got 4 under my belt without use of a blind... Tough stuff

I think I'm going to go out this year with the bow and possibly my camera. The stateland I hunt once held lots of birds. In fact, when I took my firend's son out for his first hunt I told he would get a shot at a bird, and he did,... I was that sure.
The last few years have been tough on the birds due to the deep snow that stuck around for a while, I haven't been shooting any. If I find the same is true this year I'll just take videos.
Good luck to everyone though, it's a great bird to chase.

I've hunted every season since it first opened in 1981 and I was lucky enough to get a bird just about every year. I only stopped when the birds became scarce a few years ago, but I've gotten my share, so I don't mind not killing one every year.
I'm still hunting, just not killing.

No, but I have had great luck with turkeys in the rain. My brother and I were able to put his 13 year old son on a nice Tom in the pouring rain on Saturday morning for his first. That made our season.
