Just curious on how old my fellow bowhunters are. I'm 29.

54 and feeling 64 !!!Dad was right work like a dog when your young and feel like an old dog before your time.
63 but hunting is still easy because I don't drag anything out of the woods any more.
I can remember my first deer hunt at the age of 18 at "The Forks" in Maine using my friend 30/30 Winchester lever action. We went up to the big woods, no compass, no maps, no reservations for a place to stay, no idea what we were doing. The only things I got on that first hunt was a love for the woods!
not only pronouns V. question was how old you are. I guess you get to an age when you forget things.
I look 40 ,act like 30, feel like 60 , I must be almost 50
58, just had a knee replaced 9 weeks ago and the goin is slow so far. hope to be in shape by sept. 15th. any one else had a knee replaced if so how long till you were good to go? 42 years an still hunting is my number one passion.

V
I think I know her!!
At 63 I have a stiff neck, just the wrong one!! So the neurologists gave me a pill to fix my stiff neck, now I have 2 pills,.....one to make my neck NOT stiff and another to make the other neck stiff. I just need to find a reason to take the latter :(
will be 52 in October have been bowhunting for 40 years
Rich, 51???? you don't look a day over 50 :)
Thanks Brian...I think the same thing every time I look in the mirror!!!
forty something.. since I passed 40 I always have to do the math.
33 years old, Been hunting for 13 years I'm an addict.
It's starting to look like I am the old guy on this site. I will be 66 in November and started hunting at age 12 and deer hunting at age 16.

39... this will be deer season #11
66 this October, hunting since twelve and started deer hunting somewhere around forty.
Wild Bill - I'm not the oldest on this site! You beat me by 1 month.
No one in their 20's?
Buck fever (Anthony) is 19 but too busy at school to post I guess.
Dave is a young one at 33 .
63 had a new knee 18 months ago killed a deer 4 weeks after replacement ,had son in law drag it out.
I guess bow hunters are a dying breed. Very few young pops.
My brother got his bow license a couple months ago. He will be 15 next month.
I was in my twenty's 15 years ago...LOL
51 and five years bowhunting
49, 31 years with the Bow. wooot!
36 this year. bowhunting since I was 15 and till im dead.
34...going on deer season 22 this year! Hope to double this number!
Gene and Bill
you win!! No, wait, I think you lose?? Well you're the oldest. You got me by about 3 years.
What I like about being old and hunting is I find new spots to hunt all the time, even though I park in the same spot and walk in the woods the same way every time. :)
Hint: don't try to make a phone call on your GPS, the damn things don't work right.
23 and very grateful of all the knowledge I have received from older hunters.
SECTBOW
did any of those old guys tell about a good hunting spot?
Will be 62 by bow season , still climbing trees and dragging deer out .
47 this will be season 32 and I still get the same excited feelings I did as a 15 year old kid everytime Im on stand
26- been bow hunting for the past 6 years
54- wow not many young people ?
51, feel like 60, act like 16, 29 at heart.
I've totaled the average age and it works out to 42.8.
That's 85.6 if you use the 2x factor .LOL
And 6.5 if you used an airplane to calculate it. LOL
Sweet. I'm still below average....41. Wait? Is that good to be below average. Lol.
43.
Been hunting 27 yrs. Stated out on pheasant and moved on to deer with gun at 21. Been bowhunting since 2003.
40. Wow. that's crazy! Still feel 25!
I bet your music and haircut still looks and sounds like at 25
48, I think 28 yrs with bow.
23, second year bowhunting and loving it. instantly became a passion of mine
Crow - Music = eclectic, so yep. Happy to listen to a good country tune, then Bob Marley and then metalica. All good.
Hair... volume of hair is the same, cut is different. Had to look good for the ladies then, all function now (read: put the clippers on #1 and buzz myself a couple times a month now) and there are some grays. About 20 according to my wife who, though the same age, has been largely gray since about 2 years after we got married (@ 26).
So... Music same, hair different :)
LOL,
My hair was bellow my shoulders at 20 but #2 with clippers since after my first son was born.
59 and still climb trees like a monkey
63 yrs old, started hunting at 18, rifle 3 years for deer, then bow since then. Did some upland game with my springers for about 20 years total, but always loved the bow.
at 18 yrs old I weight 165, full head of hair and 32 inch waist. I could run a 7 min mile pace and shoot golf in the 70's. at 63 yrs old I weight 180 (not bad), full head of GREY hair and 36 inch waist. I can run at a 10 min mile pace and shoot golf in the 80-90 range. Torn left shoulder rotator, stenosis in my neck, and lower back pain on occassion (like this past week), but still breathing!
At 63 you understand how precious each day is, and how important it is to live each one to the fullest. You begin to see the end of the tunnel and the only thing you can do is stay in shape to make the tunnel a bit longer so the end arrives later. :)
56 this season, run twice a week, bike twice a week, core once a week, ski, fish and other things inappropriate to publish on this site. Most guys my age huff and puff and complain when I take them out. The ones half my age can keep up sometimes.
wapiti
way to go! To me, the only reason to exercise is to be in shape for the things I love to do without feeling like I'm dying doing them.
BBB,
You should do it for hunting too.
Crow,
hunting was one of the things I was referring to. What were you talking? ;-)
67 now and soon to be 68 in October. Hunting deer since 1972!
Hunt all seasons, archery, shotgun and black powder. Seriously addicted to Whitetail!
24 I live in Berlin. Grew up in the woods and been hunting since I was 12. Use to go hunting with my dad just to sit in the tree before I could ever carry a weapon. Plan on raising my son the same way. He will be 2 next week and I already have him checking and setting cameras with me
Hunter16
you gave me a good laugh when you said at the age of 24 - I grew up hunting :)
My dad's family was from Berlin and lived on Percival Ave next to Papergoods pond. We would fish and ice skate on the pond in the winter and fish in the summer. One of my uncles owned the land across the street from Timberlin Golf course. There are some big deer in Berlin so hope you have private land somewhere.
By the way, I'm 63, that's why you made me laugh. Good job getting your son into hunting, you;ss teasure the moment when he gets his first deer, turkey, bird, etc.
ya there are some big boys taken out of berlin every year. I do have two small properties in berlin both 7 acres and just a stone throw away from each other. I shot my biggest deer so far out of berlin two season ago
Hunter16, I grew up in Berlin and I'm 60 next week. I used to walk from my house also near Percival Ave. to West Lane across the Chamberlin Highway to go squirrel hunting when I was 16. I would cut through yards with my .22 Mossberg carrying squirrels. Even the cops would stop and say Hi. If you did that nowadays, you'd have SWAT teams surrounding you. Life was good back then. It still is (I guess), but things are sure different as far as kids with guns these days and the general public's perception.
I have lived in Berlin since I was 6 i live on the east berlin side of town. I wish things were as simple as that now a days
MikeP
did you know the Maguda's on Percival Ave in Berlin? That was my dad's family.
38, been out there with the stick and string since I was 15.
Yes, BBB I knew the Maguda's. Was there a Debbie? My mind is getting cloudy in my old age.
69, still climbing to tree stands, working for another 6 months, been hunting since I was 10. 2 knee replacements, pins in one shoulder; keep moving guys.
Yes, there was. She is actually my cousin. Small world my friend.
Inspector
way to go!! When you get too old to climb trees just still hunt. I'll bet your wife gives you hell for hunting alone like mine does, right!!?? Be safe.
39...after deer with the bow since 12
55 here. 45 years in the woods,if you count the small stuff. 37 years for deer. Has it really been that long?? You just had to get me thikin about it.... Pete
