July 10 to 13; 1040 Coal City Road, Kennerdal, 16374. Three 3-D courses with over 60 targets. Vendors, food, Chris Hurt & Autumn (Trick shooters), Youth shooting events, primitive camping, chicken barbecue Sat nite (plus a live band), raffles.
Running Alligator & cougar shoots. Brave Heart Flu-Flu Clout. Turkey Shoot. Team shoot.
Lots of Vendors. Lots more fun.
Check out their website. Call the UBP office if you need more info.
I think RC is coming to this one and Bob H.
This has quickly become my favorite shoot of the year! See you there.
From a shooters perspective,Pine Hill is by far the best shoot I have ever attended. A few vendors, 3 exceptional courses, free primitive camping for paid shooters, and a really good band on Saturday night.
This year they expect shooters from 5 states and Canada.
Don't miss this one.
Art- what is the "Brave heart Flu flu clout"?!
A guy from Michigan brings about 200 marked arrows with flu-flu feathers for stick bows (so they wont fly too far). Up to 100 people or so gather around a heart shaped target in the middle of a field. The man that runs this thing dresses in kilts, brings his broadsword and has his face painted blue (William Wallace style) like Mel Gibson. He gives a stirring (and patriotic) speech encouraging everyone to yell and scream back at him. Once everyone is in the mood, the object is to shoot a volley into the air towards the heart target, much like they did in battle. Closest to the heart is knighted as the winner. (Kids and adult class both). Quite fun actually.
Look at the website for more pictures.
These guys are always kind of blurry.
That sounds like FUN, Art! Does he "moon" everybody before they shoot like in the movie?! ;-)
LOL on the "blurry" guys! :)
I was really hoping to come to this. MJ and I are having a quick renewal of our wedding vows at church Sunday am. It's our 25th anniversary. We're then leaving for a private 4x4/camping/workshop tour to Pigeon Forge Tn. mebbe lol
She says I have to be there too......
Geesh Dale, get your priorities straight.
See, there's even a bonus blurry Mr Perfect in the background. You don't want to miss hanging out with a group like that do you?
Chris and I will be there. It also has become our favorite trad shoot to attend. Perfect camping, perfect 3-d courses, and perfect folks..
And I remember Mr. Perfect being there.
He will be there too. He's got a score to settle with the running aligator.
We should have a pretty lively group of archers John.
It's not too late to cancel your plans. LOL
Gonna be some great food. Preped the camper. Latest weather report looking good.
....horsethief must mount his first turkey shoot title defense.......my money's on you AK......good luck:)
We're planning dinners to put on the smoker.
Trout Outdoors will be bringing their entire inventory.
Did you drop off your camper bob?
We're camping next to Bob again this year. Cindy takes pity on us and feeds us. :)
The Woodland Gnome, Mr Perfect, and I will be camped under Bobby's awning. See youze guys there!
Guess Bob and Cindy can leave their lawn ornaments home then. All they need is a bird bath and you're set!
I hope to set you there Saturday. Save ma a spot behind the camper.
No, he's got chiefy duties to take care of.
I'll bring your leather, hope it's what you need.
You'd be jealous to get this piece of leather Dale! It would be a bit rough around the edges for you but you might prefer it that way. A little pitch blend may go a long way! :)
"Chiefy" duties? Is that translated to "honey do" duties?
Art...camper is already there. Will be getting in around 6 on Thursday.
It's OK to use your bathroom 'til you get there, right Bob?
Me and Chise are set up and ready fot customers. He's serving the strings for his newer bows. Got mine from the banquet. Nicest bow he ever made.
Bob's camper is still here. Who is getting the nate thompson award this year?
Come and renew, sign up, get your 2014 patch. I have hats and a few cool & dry moisture wicking shirts.
We are having bear and wild turkey on the smoker tomorrow.
Weather report is great thru the weekend.
Chise hybred longbow. "New Breed" with birds eye maple limbs and desert camo diamond wood. 58 inches and 44 pounds.
People are rolling in. Still lots of room.
People are rolling in. Still lots of room.
Bob's camper has been roped off for the weekend. Nobody will admit who did it, but Chris and Roy are real close by.
Proly balloons and shave cream throughout the interior. Guess Red will have to use the potra-jons or go deep into the woods. Remember Red, leaves of three let it be!
Bob H is helping out in Trout's booth on the motning shift today.
Flint knapper, self bow maker is here.
LMBO! LOVE the caution tape on the trailer! :)
We are ready to rock today. Had a nice shoot last evening. Braveheart today and team shooy later with the veterans parade complete wth bagpipes.
State senator Scott Hutchinson stopped by for the festivities.
Chris Hurt will be doing his hit the flying aspirin show soon.
Just wanted to say thank you for a FINE EVENT to all who contributed!
This was my first visit to Pine Hill and I was very impressed. I only shot Saturday Two courses that were realistic, accessible, and clear shooting.
A group that shows respect and love of country and those who served... past and present.
Tremendous food too! The band was excellent as well!
I saw a bunch od smiling faces, myself included. I will be back for a longer stay for years to come.
Again, a GREAT SHOOT Pine Hill! <')))><
Even the vendors were smiling!
Current servicemen honored.
Past and present servicemen carry their branch colors.
The bagpipers were a nice touch!
The "tree cat" was interesting. Hope this fella found a home.
Had another great time this weekend. Great seeing everybody. Already planning our next trips.
What a blast! This shoot has quickly become my favorite event of the year!
I got there Thurs AM and found a nice shady spot in the grass to set up camp. It wasn't long before the Woodland Gnome and I were killing foam on the four 3-D courses. The next day Mr Perfect showed up and things really got silly. We laughed all weekend!
It was good to see old and new friends again. It is so nice to go to some of the smaller shoots to see just how friendly traditional archers can be.
Saturday is non-stop shooting and special events. The chicken bbq and band made for a great day! And, of course, there was plenty of time to visit the vendors and pick up some needed supplies.
Thanks to all who helped put on the best shoot I've been to in a long while!
Dave
great shoot really enjoyed going many thanks to everyone that made it such a nice weekend .
And an old bow I lent out 2 years ago mysteriously showed up with my stuff when I wasn't looking. What a great bunch of folks.
Dang Art..................you gotta quit posting that pic- you gonna scare folks off! ;-)
But seriously, one of these years we'll have to check this one out- looks like a great time!
We get roy and chris up in trout run this year so try to think of a way to make him smile.
Roy's been smiling ever since he retired.
Chris has been smiling ever since she learned what is under the kilts!
She's another reason Roy's been smiling. :)

Hey Art, we should talk to Chris.................come up with a good prank to pull on him! ;-)
roy has a kilt chris washed it and it shrunk .
Fixin' to get a mouthful of greybeard. :^)
I just offered the whole tribe here lol
Geeze it's probably on the menu there....
If RC is going, then I ain"t!
Don t want to get your camper taped up again, eh?
Can t leave your spot for a second, can you.
LMFAO, who would do such a thing? ??
The Woodland Gnome, Mr Perfect, Chief, and me will be holding down our end of the campground. There's also an invasion of Michigan archers showing up that we hope to ruin by the end of the weekend.
Oh my...... I guess you guys will be camping where the BeeGee music is being played?
I still don t know who Red is. LOL.
Will Red wear the infamous Pith helmet?
http://www.pinehillsportsman.org/view/index.php
Red....start working on Klonicke!
He was a day tripper last year. I bet he will be back for more. Pine Hill will do that to you.
Horsethief51
We've met, and we chatted at your table at Pine Hill. You may recall I shared why I was no longer the Somerset Co rep.
We should probably stick with talking about bows and arrows, huh? :)
See you there.
Dave
I recalled some conversation with you last year, now I remember the one you are talking about. All good.
One of those Michigan bowbenders (jeb/jon stewart) had previously been intending to go to Pine Hill, but the group he was representing underwent some major changes.
And, I had intentions of going up for the day, Friday, July 10, just to meet him in person. Now, I'm looking at my vacation schedule, with July 10 being requested as a full day off, and I'm wondering, as The Clash so beautifully asked, "Should I stay, or should I go?"
I guess I gotta look on the map where Pine Hill really is, and decide. Maybe even clean out some of the junk in the Jeep Liberty, and make an overnighter of it.
Hmmm. Decisions.
Is there firewood available?
Bring your guitar Randy. There is always one big fire pit every night Dale. Not sure if I have ever seen very many if any other fires. Plenty of wood tho.
Bring a sidearm, Randy. The place is loaded with coyotes. Three of them drug a guy out of his tent last year.
So they don't permit campfires here and just have a bonfire?
Dale....wood is there. They have a big burn pit in the camping area
Looks like Jami and her friend Kristen will be tagging along. Campfire may be mandatory for ambience lol if Jami doesn't get to burn some marshmallows she'll be mad at me:)
Apologies if what I typed warrented a deletion. Perhaps I'll just stay home.
Don't let a deletion here stop you from going, Randy.
Lots of NRA members will be there. Personal protection is welcome.
Just shot today at Sawmill with two buddies. We talked about Pine Hill and as of now, we will be there on Thur for the day.
