Pendulum Sights?

Does anyone hunt with the pendulum anymore? I have been for years, but it appears that the popularity is not there. I shoot a cobra and I love it!
Comments?
From the lack of comments I'm guessing most of us don't really care for them much. I always thought of them as a gimmick, I just don't see the need for them. I believe they say they're good for out to 30yds, heck at that range just use a 25yd pin and aim in the center of the lungs and shoot - dead deer!
I tried one several years ago and I had it sighted it and seemed to work fine, but that fall I shot a pronghorn buck from a windmill stand and I grazed the hairs on is his back when he was standing 15-20 yards away. Luckily for me I got him the following morning, but he would not come to water until a young lone doe came in. He approached the water 3 times that morning and even beded up within a couple hundred yards just waiting for another goat to come in. I quit using the pendulum as I did not see the benefit from it.
I've thought about it for years. I have never seen one on anyones bow that I know of.
I've thought of going to a three pin sight. The first pin sighted in at 17.5 yards, one at 30, one at 40. My thought is that the 17.5 yard pin should be good from 10 to 25 yards. Anyone know for sure? Maybe I'll check it out. I had a friend with one pin sight. I can't remember where he had is set at, maybe 20 yards? 10 yards aim a couple of inches low, 30 yards a couple of inches high. BC
BC if you're shooting a relativley fast bow a good set up is 25 and 40yd pins. If it's under about 35yds don't worry just put the pin on the center of the lungs and kill the deer.
I've been using one for more years than I can remember and it works fine for me from almost straight down to 28 yards. Still shooting an old Jennings Arrow Star, I hear that it doesn't work as well on the new fast short limbs bows.
A single pin site cannot and willnot be accurate at all elevations and distances.
If I have Bullwinkle walking through I sure don ' t need to start thinking ( do I hold a little hi or low) .
A pendulum sight would eliminate all guess work or so it should right?
Isn't there always "thinking" that needs to be done when using a compound bow with fixed sights? My pins are set at 10, 20, 30, 40 and 50 yards. If a deer stops at 15 yards I have to hold in between the 10 and 20 yard pins, or a little high or a little low depending on which pin I use.
I think for whitetail deer bow hunting a single pin can work, say out to 25 yards, out to 20 for sure. BC

Haven't seen pendulum sights in decades. thought they went the way of baker tree stands, steel teardrop cables and overdraws.
Bowcrazy- just curious, what bow are you shooting? and how many fps?
I am shooting a 2004 target bow, which is long ata and slow, I am able to use one pin out to 25.
Squid- I had to look up the Arrow Star. I totally remember those.
BC, if you're shooting 300fps+ a single pin can be used out to about 35yds. Just set the single pin at 25yds and see how far out you can go with the arrow only dropping a couple inches. With my bow there's about 4" of drop from 25 - 35 with a 25yd setting and closer than 25 the arrow never goes above 4" high. With this set up you can just aim dead on the center out to 35yds and kill the deer. It's no different than guys sighting in their rifles 3" high at 100 so they don't have to worry about hold over or under till about 250yds.
No Kevin - still much alive and kickin'
Not a drop - windage - elevation kinda guy!
What I can tell you is that I put my cobra pendulum sight on target and touch the release and Wala - hits are right on either from the ground or eleveated in a tree! Been using one for many, many years!
I would think that a sngle pin on our ultra fast bow might work as well.
I use a pendulum and as the Info Commercial guy says "Set em' and forget em" Sight in at 20 yards on the ground and the rest is golden.
Gotta shoot what ya like, once again!
Works for me!
