I Have been checking my trail cameras lately and I've been noticing that all the bucks seem to be way behind last year At this time. Has anyone else seeing the same?
Two rough winters in a row has taken out many mature bucks as they die just after the fawns. The rest came out of winter in poor condition and mother nature nutures growing bone last after the body has healed.
With any luck they will rot off. Be interesting how many hunters there would be then. Maybe ear porn would develop and measuring from tip to tip would be the new obsession. One could only hope...
(With any luck they will rot off)
Are you saying that you would like to see the deer so weak that they couldn't grow antlers?
I understand not wanting hunting to become just about how big the antlers are, but I don't like seeing a bunch of skinny unhealthy deer just so people don't trophy hunt.
Adam - I'm sure my good friend Pasq was metaphorically speaking with regards to antlers.
He makes an interesting point!
Too bad he has to make the same point on every thread. It gets a little old.
Dear Dority,
Do you mean every thread that mentions Jumbos, big racks, 180 - 200 class so on and so forth? That gets kinda old to me.
If you mean "same point on EVERY thread", that's not a true statement.
Respectfuly,
Pasquinell
I would say that the antler development is in line with years past right now, albeit I do think that the overall size will be similar to that of last year and some of those 4 year old type bucks that usually pack on the size aren't necessarily doing that.
I did see my first poult of the year yesterday, which is nice... Hopefully they start showing up more as I fear they may have had another sub=par year as well.
Pasq, you don't have to open/respond to those threads.
Pasq- I guess if you don't see the beauty in a big set of antlers that's too bad. The last few threads I've read, you've hit on the same viewpoint. If you go into a thread about "Antler Growth" and such what do you think people are going to talk about? Have a good day.
Respectfully, Guy
