Habitat talk.com. I planted turnips, rape, and radishes 2 weeks ago and it was about 4 inches yesterday. The deer hit the rape and radishes but usually takes 3-5 yrs for them to eat turnips in ag areas.

I have done turnips with radishes. Works fine. I have also added clover too.

Im with Ruger. I add clover to my turnips every so often. Not only do the deer love the combination but the clover puts nitrogen back into the ground so the turnips grow better the next year. Depending on how go the clover comes back in Spring I mow it and leave it for the deer.

All the nutritionist meant was collard greens. Best with turnips but don't let them boil for too long.

I just planted a 15' by 15' mini plot in the heart of my woods with turnips and clover. Do not have a clue if it is going to work. Might be too much shade and may get over browsed in short order. Who knows but, if I see more as a result then it will be successful.

The mini plot I planted is doing surprisingly well. Getting the much needed rain today and am considering spraying it with miracle grow later this week. Anyone ever try miracle grow as a liquid fertilizer on small plots?

Agreed, mine is only a backwoods 15' by 15'. No expectations just a little magnet to hopefully draw that solitary buck in closer.

First picture from my back woods plot. It only took 10 days for a deer to find it. Crappy picture but, action already. The rain really helped. Any advice?

Not sure if turnips will have enough sunlite there. White or Alsike clover will do fine.Frost seed white clover on the plot next April, mow in July. They won't hit the turnips till Dec-march. Rape/ptt/radish is a better mix. I keep the white clover always separate. Red clover gets too woody. Goodluck.
