Another interesting idea is not allowing DMAP properties to bait/feed deer..... An underwhelming 114 properties signed up for Dmap.

Sounds reasonable for the DMAP participants be allowed to pass the $6 fee they paid on to the person using the tag.

Seems unclear if the person that actually uses the tag needs any other sort of deer hunting license. Seems like if true it would be a classic oversight.

George Meyer of the WWF stated it would be nice if DMAP properties were not allowed to bait/feed deer. It will never happen, DMAP is voluntary with recommendations only - the DNR could recommend not mandate.

I'm in two Level 2 DMAP properties and have had both a DNR Forester and Biologist wolk the properties - awesome day in the field with both! I learned a lot, now waiting for the report. BC

""Meyer recommended, for example, baiting and feeding be prohibited on DMAP properties, as it would draw deer from adjacent public and private lands.""

And this why Bait plots should be ban.

"And this why Bait plots should be ban."

The first step would be a legal definition for a food/bait plot. No problem right? Try writing it vs. an ag field. Or simply not allow any hunting within 100 yards of a crop that has been planted in the last 10 months? Oops, that won't work either. Maybe the BoB seed and small implement lobby could help with that definition.

Best solution is allow baiting and feeding state wide.

Maybe the Farm/ag lobby will jump on it.

I agree, allow baiting statewide. Iowa, Texas and most other states allow baiting with no issues. CWD has been here 100 yrs and always will be. Besides late season and cameras, I've never baited deer, to much intrusion and work. A 1/4 acre turnip, rape, radish food plot is much more effective.

" Texas and most other states allow baiting with no issues."
