That is a scout. There will be more and more. Within a few years you'll be getting as many bear pictures as deer pictures. LOL

Here is another pic of him. Trying to determine his size. I am thinking maybe 230ish but it is hard to guess with nothing near him to help judge. What is your guess???

The first photo it almost looks like he has a blaze on his chest. That would be quite rare for an eastern black bear.
As far as his weight goes, I think you are on the generous side. Two tricks to sizing up a large bear are their ears and legs. A larger bear will look like it has tiny ears and short legs. This bear looks to have big ears and long legs. I am guessing it is under the 200 mark.
Gobbler was not far off in his joke. Look for more and more to show up.

WVmule - i thought the same at first about the ears and legs but the snout looks short to me which I have heard and seen to indicate a little bit bigger bear. Here is another pic with what appears to be white on the chest. I have seen bear just across the creek from here just never got a pic before. I hope gobbler is right - enjoy getting the pics!

That's exactly right. When they are bunched up you may go thru hundreds of does and spikes before a group of 3 or 4 bucks come by. It may take a week. If you move your camera you might miss them.

He's a shooter in anybody's book. He's got to be a minimum of 20 inches wide. Heavy long points too.

Same thing happened to a friend and I in McDowell county one year before they passed Sunday hunting. Him or I was in a stand every morning from Monday thru Saturday. Then the next morning on Sunday we got a picture of a 10 around 150 at 7:30 in the morning 10 yards from that stand. All we could do was laugh.

There's usually a few really good bucks taken towards the end of the season. Bucks are feeding more to try and recover from weight lost during the rut.
