I wanted to see what was killed this weekend but that required me to look at endless BS. Most states have one kill thread and people post pictures though out the season. Please post 2014 kills here. If you have posted a kill in another thread please repost here.

Thanks RJ

I was very fortunate to harvest an adult doe on opening evening, probably 1 1/2 yr. old. Sorry no picture. 14 yd shot, went down inside of 40yds. Beautiful weather, awesome way to start the season. Way to go surf and turf, those are beautiful deer! Good luck to everyone, hunt safe.

This is my first bow kill. Its not the biggest buck in the woods but it had my heart pumping out of my chest. I watched him come along a field edge for about 20 minutes. A few times I thought it was all over and he was going to turn and head out into the field. Finally he came to 18 yards broadside and I was lucky enough to hit him because my bow was shaking so hard. I will be a bow hunter for life now. LOL

I shot this buck last night. He came along a transition of hardwoods and swamp on his way to an agriculture field. Was hoping for a bigger buck but I have very limited time to hunt this year because of work and a new baby boy. Now my wife will be happy!

Congrats to the already successful hunters! Daryl, your first buck has bigger browtines, than the entire rack of my first buck! Congrats, as he is a beauty!

Good luck to everyone, and be safe. And remember, ENJOY THE HUNT, placing too much pressure on "having to kill a monster buck", can take all the fun out of hunting. So appreciate your time in the woods, with family and friends; and create some great memories.

my son got his first deer Monday night at age 12, a nice spiker in velvet. The buck walked directly under his stand from behind and stopped. He must stand to shoot and his harness made a small noise and the buck spooked to just under 20 yds - his limit. He could lean around the tree w/ support from the harness, "second best advantage of being belted in". The buck slightly ducked at the shot and he spined him. 38# Bear Apprentice 2 w/ Hellrazors and the deer went down like was hit w/ sledgehammer. Then we took our time and my brother and I coached him through the gut job which went great - happy day!

WausauDug, I have to tell you, of all of the kill posts on this season's site, your's is what it's all about ! This little spiker was the result and culmination of many years of preparation, coaching mentoring and love. I have not experienced this yet, but when my 12 year old gets his, it will be a prouder moment than if I were dragging my own monster P&Y buck out of the woods. Success comes in many different forms my friend !

my brother shot a nice big doe Saturday night, came back to the cabin to get his son on the blood trail. He hit it right in the boiler room so it was down right away. We went to get it and that big storm hit and it was like a monsoon so we waited till the morning. Went out the next morning and no blood of course but found the deer quickly, unfortunately the wolves got it first. Second deer in two years to the rotten #?%*&(!+. This is southern Clark county

Nice Kylet, DIY elk hunts are the best way to do it. Your consumed with the hunt months, years before you go, planning, talking to biologists, looking at maps, getting gear together. You have to take care of everything, it's an adventurous way to do it and all the hard work with a reward like that saves great memory's.

24-Sep-14
"November, the head/nose length on that buck looks incredible and is equally impressive as the horns."

Tooth [email protected]. We passed this buck multiple times last year@130 inches. He had dumped a doe on the waterhole edge 30 minutes prior and all 8 bucks still came in for a cool drink. My Son is on stand right now and just smoked a doe. We are now at 3 doe/1 book buck for the year, nice start. All went to snack sticks and jerky. Yummy

My sons first deer shot Monday evening with his Hoyt Ignite. She came in at 8 yards and when he drew back she heard him and jumped back a few yards only to come right back into his shooting lane 30 seconds later. He held at full draw the whole time and made a perfect quartering away shot. She only ran 50 yards so I guess all the practicing I had him doing this summer paid off. It's now official, he's hooked!!!

Congrats on the moose and the bucks, everyone! One of my "one-mile" neighbors put a bolt through this one recently, an 11-pointer. He's in his 70s with failing eyesight and has been shooting crossbow for six years. This one was not a great hit with little blood trail, but due to diligent tracking by many involved it was found about 200 yards away. Great buck. Two other dandies were taken with compound within a mile of there so starting to thin out a bit. It'll be interesting to see what comes out of the woodwork come the rut, though, with so much early activity here. Part of it may have been our "record" crop of mosquitoes. Deer were seen at all hours of the day outside the swamps and other wet areas.

If you look you can see two arrows in this photo. The one all covered in blood just went through the deer. The other one was the front half of the arrow that I couldn't find (didn't really look that hard) from a buck I shot two years ago. They were standing in the same spot and the arrows ended up about 9" apart from each other.

I just think most of the guys on here are primarily bow hunters but grab the gun when the season rolls around or take a youth hunter. When those pictures are on here it is fine with me because I love to see kids and their deer and Iike good deer stories. I like that stuff way better than the other complaints about each other which I just don't read anymore. I hope someday those people let it go life is too short for all that negativity.

No need to poo poo on these happy kids and take this thread off topic Ronny. It is allowable according to the site owner Pat, especially with kids. If you don't like it, don't read it. Now please don't ruin this thread too. At least their faces aren't scrolled out like there is something to hide ;).

Big time CONGRATS to all those successful kids as well as Trapper on an awesome moose. Way to get more venison too Zinger.

Here is what Pat said in the link I provided:

"I get this every so often. My stance has not changed. The occasional thread with a gun kill in it doesn't bother me, so long as they remain one-off's and don't become prevalent.

I enjoy all hunting. I even own several evil, scary guns (according to the Democrats). I support gun hunting 100% and am proud to stand shoulder to shoulder with fellow hunters, whatever implement they use.

As far as keeping Bowsite 100% pure by deleting all rifle photos and stories? I won't do that. I don't have the heart to delete a thread where a dad is overjoyed at his child's first gun kill. And I fail to see the logic in deleting a thread filled with photos and 'day by day' experiences just because it ends with a bullet instead of a broadhead. "

21-Oct-14
Congrats to all! Man, I am dying here...Have yet to be able to get out and hunt due to family/kid activities...and now work. Hope to get out soon.

As far as this being a bowsite..yes, most topics are but it is also a hunting site and love seeing kids etc with their successes!

Again, Congrats to all the hunters!

For those who want to talk bow only, here's a site where you can chat with one or two others: http://bowhuntingwisconsin.com. The guy who hosts that one also has a pro boards site with a lot of interesting projects and commentary on it.

So after a lifetime of wanting to to start hunting out west, myself and two buddies finally started applying for points in multiple states. We decided to start with antelope because is a relatively easy hunt. In two days we were limited out and on our way home. It was a DIY hunt in unit 15 just northwest of Gillette. Our plan next is Muley in 2016.

I just ran across this site when looking for information on the rut in Wisconsin, because we had planned to bowhunt the rut this weekend (our land is by Sparta and we all live on Lake Michigan). After browsing the threads I decided to become a member. There is a wealth of real time knowledge about Wisconsin bowhunting.

November and 10.. Thanks. I was sitting in this tree (for the first time this year) and thinking about going home in a half hour or so and I saw this one coming. One arrow and he runs off about 75 yards, pauses and falls over. We were able to get a 4 wheeler right up to him. Worked out well. All the trepidation that I had about my shoulder was for nothing. One arrow in Ontario-One bear, one arrow in northern Wi and one bear, one arrow in Wi and one buck-Pretty cool considering the scope job on my right shoulder in early January.

Pierce county, 7:10 AM. This was the fourth deer in range this morning and the 6th buck seen. One of those out of range bucks was huge, easily 160. He was chasing a doe just out of bow range and ran off across the field. When this guy came in chasing another doe, I was a tad worked up. Great day in the woods, I had bucks running all over as I was down in a steep ditch retrieving this one. Why do they always die there? Now it looks like I "get to" do honey do's on my week off.

been in Bayfield cnty hunting big woods cnty land and agonizingly hearing about how many bucks my brothers are seeing down south. Buddy and I hunting three days and not seen a deer and putting on miles scouting w/o even turds, morale was low. Tried a spot I found last year, Nov. 3 this guy comes cruising thru into a crosswind trying to wind does. at his closest dead down wind he stops, combination my scent and golden estrous smellums. Has to take one more step and he does, I shoot at 35yds angling slightly towards me, right front leg heart high. He takes off and over a hill w/ me after him, I creep on him two or three times trying to get another clear shot then he takes off w/ me chasing, finally stops and he's hard quartering away and I get one right in the boiler room and exits the same hole as the first arrow. He was shot across and lengthwise and out the same hole! Happy day

Congrats to all. I was fortunate enough to finally get some meat for the freezer Wednesday am by getting a swamp donkey. Made for a great story too. I didn't have to be to work until 11, so I got up at 330 to make the 1.5 hr trek to the property for a couple hour sit. Almost got to the tree I was going to put the climber in when I hear chasing in the pitch dark. I stop on the logging road to listen and hear a deer coming closer. It's so close that I can hear it munching on browse. I finally see it by the white on the muzzle & throat patch when it passes at 5 yds! It got about 20 yds away & began blowing, but still didn't know that I was right by it. I imitated it thinking it will take off & I can get to my tree, as it's beginning to get light. Well, it actually must've attracted it because it came closer! As a last effort I ran & jumped into the thicket off the trail & basically ran to the tree just hoping the deer thinks I am some other weird animal. I finally climb the tree when it's completely light out. About 7:10 I hear chasing & see it's an adult doe being pursued by....a small 1.5 yr old buck. Nothing else behind him, so I figured what the heck I haven't had a decent opportunity yet & if she comes close I will take it. She stops 5 (yes 5, directly in front & steep) yds from my stand. I quickly glanced at my adjustable pin and sure enough it was set at 20 yds, which was too far for this scenario. There was nothing I could do, but adjust my aim. I released & didn't hear it hit, but watched the deer run off, with a spot of roughed up hair just above the shoulder. After disappearing, I heard the reassuring crash. The whole time the buck is trying to figure out what was going on. He finally goes to a brushy area 50+ yds away and proceeds to pace, browse, sniff, etc. I figured that was where she was & now I got some decoys in case something else big shows up. I did see another group of does & fawns come by. After another hour of waiting for him to leave I began to realize I better get down because time's a wasting & I gotta make it to work on time. Finally when I was 1/2 way down the tree, he took off. No rope, no knife. Both at the cabin. Seems that's when I have luck. Anyway, went back to get those & lucked out with the smoothest field dressing job I have had. Solo mission accomplished. Hoping to have the opportunity for a buck now. Btw, I did make it to work.

Been hunting in MN for the last 10 days. Was not seeing much. I did see one big 8 pointer but could not get a shot. Since gun season opened Saturday I don't have access to that land till gun season ends. The only shot opportunity I had before today was a small doe. This buck is the biggest I have on camera and tomorrow is the last day I will be hunting here. So with a 4 point on one side minimum here when this guy came by I wasn't going to wait. Need some meat in the freezer and can't shoot a doe up around Hayward. Scaled out at 145. Way better than his score.

The growths by his eye look like warts, wondering if he might have run into some sticks that started them.
