Sunday hunting on ALL WMA's?
West Virginia
Contributors to this thread:
WMA's are paid for by license sales not taxes, therefore hunters are being discriminated against by being withheld from using something only they pay for so someone who didn't pay for it can possibly use it on Sunday.
My aquestion is, " DO you believe this could be changed statewide?" Would our legislators, the same ones who passed the buck to the people on Sunday hunting, be willing to stand up for something so obviously just?
Please don't tell me that it cannot be done.
Fight long and hard enough and it can be done
Your facts are right little bear its checked every day
It's great that a legislator checks in here everyday. They should be aware of the situation and we have an inside connection. They are already aware of last year's bill and should be able to help everything move forward this upcoming session. The bowsite has helped them stay up to date with the plight of Sunday hunting.
I missed the spineless part.
The history of the legislature and Sunday Hunting is certainly worthy of anyone stating their frustration. This is especially true in light of the hard work Cory has done versus the varying support the legislature has provided over the years. Calling them out on a message board may not be productive or proper. However, many of us have made passionate statements on here in the past that were not the best representation of ourselves. We all understand and excuse each other. We don't need to revisit the entire history of this subject. However, I can say that I have wished for more from our legislature. Thankfully, the people are now speaking for themselves and setting this wrong right. I am impressed with the recent progress and hopefully it will lead to Sunday Hunting getting more support from the legislature despite a passionate statement made by the recent champion of the issue. Sometimes it takes a gritty, wear your feelings on you sleeve, say what you are thinking kind of guy to get something done. I never knew Cory existed until he posted his request for support from us. Many folks told him he was wasting his time and didn't support him. He didn't let that stop him and keep pushing forward. It looks like we have the right guy for the job as I will be hunting on Sunday in my home county this year along with many of you. Yes, he certainly let's his passion show from time to time. However, at this point no one has had more success than him and I support Cory despite what may be viewed as rough corners. That roughness represents his toughness and that apparently is what we have needed. He is learning through this process. We all need to support him, befriend him, and mentor him. We need more Corys in this world.
am I missing something here.
I edited out the word, "spineless" from the original post. Spineless was a word used to describe our political leaders.
I made a mistake. I am highly vested in this, along with my job, family, and minimal personal time. I work seven days a week and have not had a day off in a long time(early August). I have spent hundreds of hours to help secure Sunday hunting rights for the sportsmen of WV. The road has been long with obstacles, however, we are much better off than where we started.
So, while I made a mistake, it is imperative to focus on the final goal while taking into account that we are all human.
Your spot on MULE. Cory has put his nose to the grind stone and has accomplished alot. Do we have more hurdles to jump? Sure do. Cory, due to his hard work, has got his foot in the door. Its a start. J.R. go over to www.wvangler.com you will have to register. Scroll down and click on Hunting. Search for "sunday hunting" and you can read the history of Corys journey on trying to turn things around. One step at time fellows.
I couldn't agree more. There's a right way and a wrong way. The high road is always the best route to take. Most of the time it gets you in the door with the right people if you know what I mean.
Keep up the good fight.
