The right side seems to come out of this guys head a little low. From an injury I guess.

That's pretty cool. those unique cells which reside in the pedicle had to have been "pushed" over out of position through some means. The antler will grow from this place every year. I've read that they've transplanted those cells to other parts of a deers anatomy and some kind of antler will attempt to grow there.

A buddy shot an elk in CO that had an antler coming out from near the middle of his skull. Only 2 antlers. It was a big spike while the other side was a normal 5 point. In 2013, my son found a skull that was oriented the same way, although the antlers were more normal in appearance. I'm now of the belief that its a genetic abnormality as I don't think a severe skull fracture would allow the animal to survive. Just my theory...
