Why can't we have a black bear season??

If not a bear season they should allow a side arm carry during bow hunting season. I've seen several bears hunting in the NW corner and its a little unnerving having no way to defend yourself other than bear spray should one get aggressive. IMHO
I don't know about you guys, but should a bear turn on you, would you feel more comfortable with bear spray, or a 44 magnum in your hand?

Just the other day I was in a tree...had a crankin bear come out about 15mins before dark, and walk right towards the path I have to walk out of...didnt have a damn flashlight

Honestly, that's my only fear when going to my stand in the dark or returning to my vehicle in the dark.
