question on WMU 6A/6G Alex bay area

I have an opportunity to go hunt with a friend right around Alexandria bay, some of which is in the very western portion of 6a and eastern portion of 6g. Would love to hear about this area, are there lots of deer, good ones, etc...don't want to shoot the first legal buck if there are some decent ones in the area. Thanks! Mike

I hunt my dad's farm and several abutting farms in 6A in the town of Macomb, about 35 mins from A-Bay. Decent hunting but bucks can be far and few. I would shoot the first shooter you see as it might be your only opportunity. Hunting state or private land? Good luck.

Northern Jefferson co.has some very good deer hunting. Alex bay area should be good.And don't shoot the first thing with horns you see.Try to hunt the rut;peak this year is Oct.30-Nov.5. I have hunted 6a all my life;my last six bucks average 8.1 points and 175 lbs.dressed.
