I had a picture of this nice 8 point this summer and then he disappeared until the other day. Had video of him making a scrape and chasing a couple doe's.

I don't see more than 115-120 myself, nice buck though. As far as age, 2.5 maybe 3.5.

Until a tape goes on him, you can only speculate. Most of his guess will be beam length and and mass measurements. I'd be surprised if it hit 125, and I came up with 118. I believe it to be 3.5 as well. A good deer no matter what. Score means squat in my book, and although I do put a tape on a downed deer, that's to suffice those people who care.

After further review, 127 net. He makes book barely. Here's a 137 net 8 with 8 inch brows and good mass(bladed) all the way out. Quick score rule- add total tine length to 80 for a mainframe 8 and 90 on a mainframe 10.(mature buck of course)

November, if you're only subtracting 10 inches from your picture to the OP trailcam pic, I see ten inches alone in brow tines and base measurements. Your Son's deer carries mass throughout, and I believe his outside is close, but beam length I believe is greater, and tines are a bit longer. Again, I don't focus on score, but it takes a lot of bone to make an 8, 125". Of course every 8 pointer shot on t.v. is 130+ lol.

I agree but hundreds of main frame 8's in PY.I have 3. In fact about 65 6 pointers in the book now.

The op's buck is 3 inches either side of book and more importantly a mature buck. Pass him and I have many tasty tag soup recipes.:)

Thanks for all the input!! When I saw the velvet pic from this summer I for sure thought like 140's but now that the velvet is off he's clearly much smaller than that. I would consider passing this deer mainly because we have 150 acres of managed land and I feel pretty confident that he will stick around.

If you kill a deer based on age, you will be better off. A lot less waiting, when waiting for age rather than inches. Less likely to piss people off if you take an inferior deer that is old, than a young deer with tons of potential.
