I give this Buck a Score of 10 !! Yum Yum
I'd give it a ten also Ron cause that some good eatin there
I ask this in a positive way. This thread was designated as debate free which means all posts must be constructive and positive. How do we respond if our opinion is less than 10?
What you don't realize gobbler, is that I've seen his trophy room. That's the biggest buck he's ever shot. So..... it's got to be a 10. Heck, in his case, it's a 12.
:^)
Ok, I understand now .LOL
i let one of those walk once and it turned into this
Go Sabol. I appreciate grown men passing up on such game when the state has graciously allowed us to have such a bountiful doe limit. I enjoy and appreciate the opportunity to let some deer pass while filling the freezer with great tasting doe meat. I enjoy the lengthy season that gives us ample opportunity to pursue numerous deer while being able to pass on certain deer knowing that another opportunity will arise.
if DEBATE means, "a formal discussion on a particular topic in a public meeting or legislative assembly, in which opposing arguments are put forward." How can a thread that asks a question be DEBATE FREE?
This thread has message board troll written all over it. Looks like your venison came with tooth picks. Hopefully one day you will find one with a side of humble pie.
that deer is no different than a doe where I hunt. LOL. It will taste good. I find those older bucks sometimes don't taste as good.
The deer is very different from a doe. Different anatomy when you field dress it. It's different than a doe in the fact that a full size doe provides more meat.
If the older bucks don't tatse good, shoot a doe.
god i just re read this thread and saw the pic i posted again...makes me sick as heck i missed that buck an inch low last season! those little ones also grow a brain as they get older which is evident by the date this STUD visited my camera---SUNDAY late afternoon !
Oh I shoot my share of does but I won't let lil deer walk in WV. To shoot a buck that size. Now if we had 140 class deer running around that would be different. And I am aware of the anatomy differences.
I have Eaten lot's of does sundaynwv, I think 1 1/2 year old deer Taste way better than An Old Doe. Course, you can eat what you want, I still say---Yum Yum . Ahhh, Yes I have eaten lot's of Humble Pie, and I'll stick with venison, tastes way better.
Woods are full of 1.5 year old does. Honestly, I cannot tell the difference in the taste of any deer I have killed and I have probably taken 100 deer in my life.
In a positive and constructive way Ron, I will pay for a years subscription to QDMA if you are interested.
Any deer tastes better than tag soup.
I have a hard time with this QDMA, aren't They much like people that RAISE DEER ? You know, Deer Farms ? I'll pass, but Thanks anyways.
QDMA is one of the leading national groups that are leading the fight against deer farms and have stated so. QDMA promotes a healthy deer herd with a more balanced sex and age structure that is sustainable within their habitat, and a controlled population that dosen't destroy their habitat .
Trophy deer may be found in herds that are managed by QDMA guidelines and that is a result of proper management , but is not the primary goal of QDMA. Nowhere in their mission statement or guidelines does it say their goal is to raise trophy deer.
So, a fella kills a legal deer and has to defend it to some here? That's the problem with those that can't see past their noses.
I killed a young 6 point last week, in a Wilderness area that required a lot of leg work to get it packed out. I'm guessing it took more calories to pack my butt in, then the deer out, than a good number of you trophy hunters deer did/will this year, put together. He was no less a trophy than a 150 inch deer in my book. But, I'm certain he wouldn't measure up to standard for many here. There is so much more to deer hunting than the size of the antlers it carries.
Before you say it, this was the FIRST deer I'd seen while hunting, since September 27. So, I wasn't waiting on a doe. Can I still be in the cool club?
I detect a hint of negativism. As I understand it, that is not allowed in this thread.
Amen to WV Mountaineer. Exactly why I almost never post here anymore. To many people spend way to much time imposing their standards on other hunters. By the way Mr. Miller. congrads. Hope I can get one as nice.
I just shoot deer to eat in wv
Wv mountaineer. You burned more calories coming out with the deer than going in. Lol. Congrats on your 6 point.
If this was just about a bow kill why wasn't it put on the meat pole thread where every one else has posted their bow kill? Why was it posted separately with a question on how do you like this on a 1-10 scale?
The cynical side of me thinks that that it was a purposeful in your face picture in an attempt to irritate some people and promote controversy. On the other hand it might just be a man extremely proud of his 1 inch spike.
This was posted from a constructive point of view.
WV Mountaineer congratulations on a great trophy WV buck. They are all trophies if taken legally. Good luck the rest of the season, I hope you can get a few more.
Are you getting the deer mounted?
What if he hunts where I do? I am under orders to see a deer shoot a deer. The land owner doesn't want them there and wants them all gone. If I had a better area to hunt I would be picky. Plus isn't anything under 3" considered a doe? at 30 yards you can't see the things. I say nice harvest happy eating.. I will get one sooner or later.
If a hunter had a better area one would be picky. I know of one good way to have a better area.
I choose not to be offended by a by a tongue-in-cheek thread of a legally harvested deer, taken by a bowhunter who likes to kill things, and utilizes everything he shoots.
Please do tell.. A way to stay somewhat close to home and doesn't cost $1500.00 I am on a small limited budget and am hungry.
Gobbler, there definitely is a cynical side to some of the post's on this thread. And frankly, I interpreted it as not coming from you. I personally think you are as polite about your wishes as anyone I've ever seen express disagreement.
I got zero problems with what everyone hunts or kills. As long as it is legal. I do get cracked up in the way some look at things. I can relate. I used to feel the same way. Probably more judgmental than most here. I backed up my previous feelings by joining a group that paid fines for killing a buck deer that didn't make a certain antler measurement. Did it for ten years until I woke up one morning and realized the reasons I wasn't hunting as much were due to the lack of fun I was having. I dropped out of the leases we shared, got away from all the negative's it promoted, and started enjoying hunting again.
That six point wasn't even killed in WV. It was killed in VA, In a Wilderness area on National Forest. And it was killed with a Muzzleloader. Still, every bit a trophy as any I've ever killed because I sure earned him. None of that matters though, to some with the goal of big horns at all costs.
I'm certain the OP started this thread to inflame a few. I'm certain he took humor in it. I see no reason for him not to after seeing the reply's. When the accomplishment of killing a legal deer becomes lost because it horns don't measure up to a predetermined criteria, it is time to reevaluate what deer hunting means. I'm speaking from experience on that one. God Bless
There are numerous food banks and church groups that will provide food for the hungry. Also if you qualify there are government social welfare programs that are available also.
Those are for people that can't or won't provide for themselves. If a man can kill a legal deer to supplement his food supply then quit criticizing him.
its all about the future and health of the herd, or lack thereof, lol. in the end though, this thread was started for the sole purpose of further dividing this forum, otherwise the picture would have been put in the meatpole thread. i see this mentality all the time on the water. pure.legal.greed.
Not criticizing anyone. He said he was hungry. I took him at his word. Was trying to provide help.
lol yall are funny... I guess that's why I keep coming back.
I'm glad to see that some people can still recognize a joke when they see it. I hope you get one bubba.
Thanks.. I think this is my year. 2 years of nothing. Took a shot at one the other.. wait not gonna thread jack....
