We have not seen any Porcupines in our area..but have what appears evidence that they have been chewing on some tree branches. I set my trail cam at ground level (would recommend you try it..some neat shots) and got this photo. I think it is a Porky...buy could be a Coon. Your take is...?

The hair looks more fine than a porky, but it could either I suppose? Even a squirrel tail if he was rubbing up on the lense which seems to be the case.

coon but about a 30% chance of it being a grey squirrel's tail, I'm more hung up on the coon though.

I don't think the critter is chewing on a tree branch. If you look closely in the lower right hand side of the picture you will see what "I believe" is kernels of corn. It also would explain the bare area.

Never thought of the "tree rat". Thanks for the keen eyes. Of course, I have never seen a Chupacabra this far North.

Squirrel. Three year old. Let him go...let him grow. Quality Squirrel Management's motto!

I believe it is a squirrel tail simply because the hair is not tight, and you can see through it slightly, but no one will ever know for certain.

My first thought was Coon, but I'm thinking squirrel for sure.

After further review and the fact that there is corn on the ground, it is a bushy tail grey squirrel, call stands.

Squirrel!

The tips of the hair are greyish like the other pictures and the coon pictures have black tips. There are no quills showing, so that eliminates porky.

Not a porky. Too gray for a coon...I say squirrel.

Squirrels have learned if they chew on tree branches, mainly maple, they get a sweet reward. Porcupines get blamed a lot when in fact squirrels are the real culprit.

Rabbits are famous for chewing on small sapling's, especially when there is deep snow.
