My 2014 Late Season Blacktail

Opening day found me in a blind I placed specifically for this buck. There were 2 others that were shooters, but this guy was the biggest and most consistent coming to my set up.
He came in at around 3:25 pm opening day and according to my video camera, I waited for over 5 minutes before he presented me a favorable shot at 20 yards. He was quartered to me, but I still caught both lungs and he expired within 60 yards.
My wife came out to help me pack the meat after we quartered and deboned the buck. Her pack was 56 pounds, my pack was 78, and I had a 5 gallon bucket half full of meat as well. Gotta love the gutless method. There was no dragging this guy to a logging road. He had a massive body and giant neck. I accounted for 86 pounds of boned out meat.
I am writing a more detailed story for an online magazine, but this is the basics and a couple of pics.
