I think you will purposely have a hard time getting deer numbers from any governing body. As far as hunters, I have read 350,000.

I agree with Sunday. you won't hear the deer numbers. how do they tell how many deer we have anyway?

LOL I know about numbers! I can remember when they estimated there were a million deer in WV - almost every magazine you read had it in but I have not heard of an estimate on deer numbers for several years now.

Yeah, that was back when we were killing a 100,000 bucks and over 200,000 total deer a year.

Dnr says 330,000 take to the woods for gun hunting....on dnr website under hunting news

I remember in early 90's they estimated 750,000

Are you sure? I never remembered hearing a number over 350,000?

We need a "landowner/DNR use tag" and can get more federal money and know how many hunters we have.

Sorry. I meant 330,000 hunters take to the woods according to a DNR article i posted.

And in early 90's i remember them estimating 750,000 deer. Havent heard an estimate in a while.....and i could be remembering wrong.

If they have the people who use our outdoor resources either buy a hunting and fishing license or a stamp (like a trout or the old state duck stamp) then the problem would be solved. If the state can charge a hunter a 20$ tag for the renewable animals we hunt then they can charge a rafter or hiker 5 dollars to use the rivers and trails
