I've been wanting to get involved in competition shooting for a couple years now using a compound bow with a release. I have no idea how I go about doing that. Can anybody tell me how to best pursue this?

Start going to bow shoots. The WVBA banquet may not be competitive but you would bump into a lot of shooters who you could ask.

If you belong to the WVBA the magazine has lists of upcoming shoots.

IBO will be having a qualifier at Pipestem in the spring. Google their website to get the schedule.

I guess it depends on the type of competition you're interested in. A lot of local clubs have indoor spots in the winter.

If you're looking to compete in 3D hunting scenario's you may want to check out the I.B.O. They may be the largest organization in the country for hunting archers.

It would be helpful to clarify what type of competition you are interested in. IBO. NFAA, USA ARCHERY These groups have a variety of styles and also have info on their sites. They also have state chapters.
