My bow season in Fayette County was pretty good. I did not see many deer and nothing real big but I did take a old broken antlered blind in 1 eye 5pt and a really stupid doe. I did see lots of turkeys and squirrels.
In Mingo county I saw 2 nice bucks and a few does. 1 big buck was 20 yards broadside but just not big enough for Mingo county. I did get a video of him.
Wetzel county rifle season the deer sightings was very low compared to past years . I did get an 8pt and a doe but my buddies pretty much ate their tags.
Overall I think the sighting of deer was low and turkeys population was ok. No grouse were seen and average squirrel sightings. I did not see a bear this year during hunting season even though I had several on my trail cameras
My elk hunt was a bit of a bust due to family issues that required that I cut it short. Saw a couple of good bulls at 50 yards and passed on a couple of cows and calves.
Hog hunt to start the new year (in January) and, Lord willing, expecting a good season this coming year.
Happy, safe and prosperous new year to you all!
Only negative was not being able to hunt after Christmas because of family flu.
Bought VA license and Muzzleloader/rifle hunted there until gun season here. Saw a few deer and killed a nice 6 point buck. He had no brow tines but was a great deer for me. He was a mountain deer and well earned.
Gun season for me was a bust. I hunted Monday and Tuesday and saw one deer each day. My truck broke down on the way out the scenic highway on Thursday. Got it towed and came home. Hunted Monroe county and Mercer the weekends of gun season. Saw a lot of deer and let one young buck walk in Mercer County. Could have killed a deer in Monroe but, getting them up out of their beds was making it hard to tell what was what. I figured I get one in doe season so didn't want to risk killing a button.
Muzzleloader. Only got to hunt one day. Never saw a deer in Mercer county. Had a few come in above me and wind me right before dark. Counted 5 on the way out crossing in front of my 4 wheeler. The know they are safe after dark.
Doe season. Total wash. Only day I hunted, No deer saw. I couldn't even find one to jump.
Late bow season. Saw quite a few deer here in Mercer County trying to hunt around Christmas and now the flu. Only went Friday and Saturday. Never had any close enough to shoot at with my bow.
It was a hard year to hunt. Lots of sign. Just couldn't get the deer on their feet in the daylight when I was hunting. The deer I saw while working where all booted from their beds. I saw a bunch of deer in the fields yesterday driving from Union to Rock Camp. There are a lot of deer in the woods right now and I expect next year will be epic hunting. Good luck in everything in year 2015 and God Bless
