Or take the money and go hunt elk out west. Much greater odds

From: gobbler

Or take money and go hunt a penned elk. Odds are right at 100% LOL

The reason I put in and I think why a lot of people put in is for a chance to experience hunting elk in the east. If it were just to elk hunt if go to Wyoming. I just think it would be neat to hunt in habitat that I'm used to deer hunting in.

why does everyone talk about KY elk and no one talks about PA and their elk hunt?

From: gobbler
07-Jan-15
Because PA has 700-800 elk and KY has between 10,000-12,000 elk. PA gives out a handful of tags , KY give out around a thousand tags. KY gives out more tags than PA has elk.

Guess the habitat in PA is not as good, since they have had Elk longer. The herd just ain't growing

Last year couldn't you only make two selections? It let me choose all four.

I guess they wanted to double their money?

Do they separate residents from nonresidents? If so how many nonresident tags are given out? It would be nice to hunt them in the east. We are getting them soon I hear.

From: gobbler
08-Jan-15
I think nonresidents are limited to 10% of total tags.

From: Babysaph

That's not too bad

10% is correct. I think the people that do get drawn have about 90% success rate. The KY DNR site gives a lot of info on this.

Put in for mine yesterday. Always a chance, granted slim to none but try anyway.

From: Babysaph
09-Jan-15
Wow 90 % chance ? That is unheard of in any state.

Has anyone heard the results for the restoration votes in wv yet?

From: gobbler
09-Jan-15
No, but I did hear that the 2 public meetings that were held down there was 99%+ in favor of elk reintroduction.

And it wasn't just the good ol boys wanting elk to poach. It was business and community politicians and leaders as well as citizens that see it as a benefit to the economy as well as the hunting opportunities that will open up in the future.

I hope they get elk down there.

I know I sent off about 100 votes in favor of it myself between fily friends and co workers

From: Doug
10-Jan-15
Correction, I think it was about 50% not 90%.

From: gobbler
15-Jan-15
The DNR statewide survey showed 93% in favor of elk reintroduction and 7% against.
