Judges are very important people . They have intelligence and wisdom far beyond all others ? Sometimes bad theories and mental illness contaminates even the highest thinkers . All that being said I was wondering - What is the best way to make her decision unimportant? Is there a way to negate the wolf and his ability to kill? Can we create habitats were a moose or deer or elk thrive regardless of predators ?
Small case letter j , and b , and h in my book .
I'm not a lib or an Obama fan, but time for a fact-check on the circling the drain comment: when President Bush left office in January, 2009, the national unemployment rate was 7.8 and we were in the midst of a recession, shedding roughly 800,000 jobs a month. By fall of '09, the unemployment rate topped out at 10 percent. It has fallen every year since. Last month it stood at 5.6, the lowest in six years and lower than the historical average tracked in the past 66 years.
Nationally, 2014 was the best year for employment growth in 15 years.
"The official figures show that the U.S. had 6,371,000 more people employed in December than it did when Obama took office in 2009. So during Obama’s first six years in office, the U.S. has added nearly five times more jobs than it did during the entire eight years under President George W. Bush. (Bush’s total was just under 1.3 million.) Bush’s record suffered from a loss of nearly 4.4 million jobs in the last 12 months of his presidency, and we can’t say what the last two years of Obama’s tenure will bring.
On the other hand, the number of Americans receiving food stamps remains 45 percent higher than when the president first took office, and the rate of home ownership has dropped by 3.2 percentage points, to the lowest point in nearly 20 years."
Above two paragraphs from: http://www.factcheck.org/2015/01/obamas-numbers-january-2015-update/
Why the mixed reviews? IMO, it's tax cuts that primarily benefit the richest 10 percent. Since Reaganomics took hold more than 30 years ago, most of the growth has gone to the wealthiest. Trickle Down isn't necessarily happening.
"What is the best way to make her decision unimportant?"
Very simple answer here - our Governor enacts state law and puts the hunt back on. Done deal. Take that one Howell. We'll see what is more important to Walker: tree hugger votes for a potential POTUS position or the WI sportsmen who voted him in 3 times.
RC, Sawtooth, at least you have an answer but, really what have the Republicans done in the last month to say wait a minute? This reversal isn't going to fly in our state.
We all know where the Democrats stand on this and I am not defending their position. Don't just blindly think one party is going to solve the issue over another. I have not seen one move by either party to reverse the Judge's decision. And I am not talking waiting for the legal process and the courts to sort it out.
Where is the outrage in the State Capital? Where is the outrage from the Governors office? Where in the media has Walker come out and said, this is not acceptable to our sportsmen in Wisconsin. If he stands with Sportsmen in Wisconsin, than he better get off his duff and show it instead of paying us lip-service. Instead, Walker said, let's wait and see what the courts do/say. WTF!
The clock is ticking! While it ticks, another deer falls north of 64. It is conservatively safe to say that in the last month alone, a typical single wolf pack in northern Wisconsin has killed and consumed 24 deer. In most places north of 64, that equates to wiping out the population in two-square miles of deer habitat.
I am not hearing anything from either party regarding the damage this does to a robust deer hunting industry. After all, doesn't deer hunting in Wisconsin generate billions of dollars? Where is the public outrage by our supposed friends in office?
10, I hear you, but whether or not this decision was made, wolves would be killing deer and other critters. However, if it were truly as simple as wiping out the population, they'd have done it by now, and they'd have eaten all the elk too. Obviously many deer in wolf country survive each year from attempts on their lives by both humans and wolves. If this were not so, there would be no world-class deer hunting in Canada. Yes, it's legal to shoot wolves in most places there, but they still have far more wolves than we do.
We may not have heard anything of substance yet from Madison — whether from the DNR or its boss, the Gov. and legislature (or our Congressional delegation …) — but there's time yet. There is a lot of discussing going on, seeking legal advice, working with the USFWS.
Illegal killings (though not nearly as common as legalized trapping kills) will likely continue; nothing has changed there. But there's time. There was no wolf hunt in the U.P. this past season, and my friend's camp in north-central U.P. all still saw and shot deer. Wolves have not eaten — and will not eat — the last deer up north. Last year's severe winter likely killed more deer up north in a single season than wolves could kill in five years. Winters are the key. Thankfully this one has been mostly mild so far.
NAZ, thanks for keeping it real! There is a lot of selective memory these days! It's an epidemic.
Naz, if everything bad under Obama is GW's fault. Then everything bad under GW is slick Willies fault. Or doesn't it work that way when the blame would fall on a Dem?
I don’t trust not one politician not even the golden boy Walker . Nope we need to boycott also tar and feather any and all that are not IN . That the Spirit !
Don't know where you're going with that Rut, I never said that. Just showing some actual facts which are lost on many folks when it comes to their biases.
Naz, median income has dropped every year obummer has been in office. Flippin burgers at Culvers pt is a yob? Wait till the dem lib union boys get hit with the caddilac health tax!
RC, repub Walker needs to grow a pair and go Idaho on the wolves.
November, not sure what your source is but median income went down 5 of 8 years George W. was in office and has trended down since 2007, falling about 8 percent from the pre-recession peak and well below the '99 record (Clinton administration) of $56,895. Median income did continue going down first four years under Obama but went up slightly in 2013 (have not seen '14 figures released yet, but CNN reported last summer that income was up more than 3 percent so far for the year; http://money.cnn.com/2014/08/20/news/economy/median-income/ ). With two more years to go, this administration could either tie, beat or lose to that 3-5 record by G.W. & Co.
In the State of the State speech, not one word about Wisconsin's natural resources. NOFW! Instead, we get a speech about France. Are you Fing Kidding me? Walker is nothing more than a whore that has an insatiable hunger for power. He is no different that any other politician before him.
Nov, Walker needs more than a pair, the guy is nothing more than another short-pecker suffering from Napoleon Syndrome.
Was very surprised to see the real bowhunter Ryan say he won't run. It becomes more apparent every day that it's less about who wants to run, but who the billionaires want to buy for their power trip. Loved his Facebook post from Lambeau asking if Christie needed a hug after the Packers' win! Fact check: Congressman Ryan has more than 5 million Facebook likes, Gov. Walker 200K. Opinion: expect the "Facebook ad buys" to heat up soon!
Naz, History will show Obummer as a bigger dumpster fire then Carter. He will add more debt than the previous presidents combined going back to GW, yes the Potomac GW.He won't even recognize or say Islamic terrorist. How did the France no show work for him? Benghazi, fastnfuriuos, keep your dr.,immigration, exec orders, ect. Today he takes credit for gas prices? What a joke.
Naz, you were glorifying the exalted one, and dumping on GW. Although you like to point out that you aren't a Liberal. That is exactly what the Libs do. Therefore if it's acceptable for the present administration to blame the past administration for things. It must be acceptable for the prior administration to blame the one before them. But the Libs, which of course you are not one of, don't like that kind of "equality".
I find it surprising that you being a father support Obama so much. You realize he has saddled future generations with more debt than any other president in history?
November, agree in many ways. In the end, though, whether R or D — and looking historically, not at any one president — one often needs to look past "simply" the president and see who controls Congress (or the Legislature) of that matter, too.
Rut, you're wrong. Showing facts vs. a steady diet of b.s. from some here is not dumping on anybody. I voted for Bush.
Many seem to forget the false economic gain set in place by the Clinton Presidency. Economic boom set forth with the scam of the dotcom boom, the low interest rates set so everyone could own a home (not all should)and starting the housing boom, which led to a glut of houses. These and may other factors led to economic issue President Bush had to deal with. GW also continued some of these practices. With 9-11 and the start of a global recession not just national and the start of global terrorism, it was a mess. Now with that said Economies peak and valley and the governments of man can try to regulate them but to little avail. We all want economies to continue to grow. They cannot, natural corrections take place. In addition Obama has spent our country and set up more entitlement programs then Roosevelt. Some needed some for sure not. In my opinion is line with Carter for lamest of last 60 years.
Naz, his hineass haf full conyrol of house and senate for 2 years. We got obummercare and a failed stimulus. Now he and the dems can start to veto keystone, a true fence, ect. Best of luck hillary.
Screwball, how did a sitting president create and run a dot-com boom? I guess there are people that really believe Gore invented the internet. LOL Last I checked that was a product of a very Right Wall Street. Not that it was a bad thing, just another segment of our economy.
"the low interest rates set so everyone could own a home (not all should"
Really? Last I checked this was the United States of America, land of opportunity? Low interest rates, I don't know about you but, that sounds pretty good to me. Kind of like the lowest fuel prices since before 911. Which, sounds pretty good to me as well! It looks like there might be a pattern here, Republicans F things up, Democrats rebuild. Reagan left us with massive national debt, Clinton wiped it out. The Bush family left us with war and a broken economy, Obama stopped the bleeding!
What does all this mindless banter have to do with the wolf problem?
"RC, repub Walker needs to grow a pair and go Idaho on the wolves."
You should find out what Idaho did. Idaho Gov just gave lip service.
There is a right and wrong way to proceed, states break Fed laws are not the best way to go. It would cause more problems in the future.
But it's nice to see all the libs bashing Walker. Talk about talking out of both sides of your mouth. lol
"Howatt," that's false, I'm an independent and far more conservative than liberal. "Everybody" is not three people here (not counting the multiple personalities). Believe it or not, just because you're a three crossbow-owning fudger doesn't mean everyone is a liar (or insane enough to believe they're actually more than one person).
There was no Bush or Walker bashing on my part here, only facts to dispel the typical b.s. that we see from some brown-nosers who actually think what they do for "the administration" is important, behind-the-scenes business (when it's clear they're getting used and abused while the "winners" laugh all the way to the banks - yes, they need more than one).
"You should find out what Idaho did. Idaho Gov just gave lip service.
There is a right and wrong way to proceed, states break Fed laws are not the best way to go. It would cause more problems in the future. "
Not sure I concur there. It would put control of wolves back in the state and send a message to the feds that we can handle this ourselves. Will Walker work for those who voted him in 3 times or for possible future votes from tree huggers for POTUS? He works for us right now and needs to get this done. We have not even seen lip service from Walker yet. Please note that I am a Walker fan and a Republican. I just don't worship any politician as others here do. Just because I voted for them (multiple times) does not mean they get a free pass. All politicians are failures, some just worse than others. It is time for Walker to grow a pair.
"Not sure I concur there. It would put control of wolves back in the state and send a message to the feds that we can handle this ourselves. Happy, go read the other thread on what is happening. Does it bother you that your vote goes to put judges like this on the bench?
Take this from a guy on the outside looking in (although my cabin is in Wisconsin), but you guys that keep mentioning Walker "should grow a pair" and reinstate the wolf hunt in Wisconsin "if he wants to work for the voters that got him there", should stop and consider for a moment the bigger picture...that being what he could do for the NATION, not just Wisconsin, if he were to become POTUS. He would wield more power to reinstate the hunts nationwide, not to mention he could do more and bigger things for hunting all over, not just in your 1/50th of the world. Something to think about before you start ranting he's somehow letting you down if he doesn't act on this wolf deal right now. As president he can do much more for all of us than simply as a governor...although I believe he's been a great governor for you guys across the river...better than than governor goofy we got here in Minnesota. Anyway, just something to consider.
South Farm - winning POTUS is a big IF - a huge IF. I hope he does though. But, he can't control the future but can affect the present. He is currently paid to work for WI. He can't drop us because he aspires for a different job in the future, one with no guarantee. He needs to do the job he's being paid to do now and was voted to do.
"Does it bother you that your vote goes to put judges like this on the bench? "
Sorry, I did not vote for the current POTUS and he appointed her. I despise the current POTUS. Does it bother you that your vote goes to put judges like this on the bench?
South Farm, the current president already instituted hunts for wolves across the nation. It was a judge who stopped ours, and rather than waste more time and money fighting these idiotic lawsuits by antis, it'll take another round of language inserted into a bill to give management to the states — where it should be. Idaho and Montana already have this ability.
"There are soo many important things Walker and the good guys have to get done that I wont mind if wolves are a little lower on the list. "
Ronny - being an apologist I see. If Walker were a dummycrat, you'd be all over him like a fly on a pile of poo for not even having given lip service to this. He still works for us, the people that voted him in 3 times. I'm sure he can multi-task. We all do. He should be cut no slack regardless of his party. He's a politician. He's out for himself and could care less about anyone else. Don't be a blind worshipper, expect more from those you elect!
Totally agree with Ron Howatt.
Naz, stay the course on your independence. I for one will never follow a party line. In all of politics, what needs to be done is what is right for every American regardless of political belief. Neither the far right or left have the sense God gave geese. Both sides are consumed with hate! That has to be a miserable existence.
I've said for years we need a new party, the Common Sense Party, where they actually work for what is right for the majority — for now and for our future. Where they actually extended a hand across the aisle to welcome and work with others. Where they didn't have to pay back a big donor with a special deal. Where they were filled with unselfishness and were humble and were willing to put in an honest day's effort — nights when needed — not to stonewall and pontificate, not to let a good idea die in committee because your party didn't introduce it, but always to do what they knew in their hearts what was right for the majority of their constituents, and for the state's and nation's futures.
10 or better, never said the President ran it but nice twist of words. It was allowed to run under his administration which aided in the building and inflating, of a false economy that did eventually collapse. Blame Bush if you wish. Not everyone is qualified or capable of owning a home. Thus this plan led to the housing bust under the Bush administration as well a the Fanny May situation which were perpetuated and continued by Bush post Clinton. Low interest rates are needed as are higher interest rates to allow an economy to be regulated by the government rather than by the people and itself. The President and governments don't regulate economies, No matter what they do or believe, the economies will adjust eventually. I am a centrist. None of the recent Presidents and certainly not our current have been with a rats behind. I never sided with any of them above. There interest is reflection not the people of the U.S. But you obviously in your deluded perception do. What does this have to do with Wolves everything, Government regulation of nature which will balance itself. Point made above my post, were political and I responded. I am clarifying my earlier post. I do apologize for my post in reference to the political aspect of some posts previously. I have vowed not to do this and in particular not respond to the individuals on this site who are antagonists primarily. That most who want to have intelligent discussion about hunting cannot and I slipped.
Great idea Howatt. Then WI. can start the "race to the bottom" that most of our southern states enjoy.
Think about it. All the unions have become is a political funding source for the dems.
In the work place the union must keep the workers angry and non trusting of the company which pays them. If the workers liked the company and did appreciate what the company has given them and their family there would be no reason for the union. I am in many union and non union shops with my work and the non union workers seem to be a lot happier. They also seem to get a lot more done.
With that being said the trade unions seem to be different where they do demand productivity and some responsibility.
I think this will be cyclical like anything else.... If anyone thinks when it comes down to it that the company really cares about its employees you are mistaken. They would lay you off tomorrow if they had to. Yes it is their right but then don't preach to me the company cares about their employees or people are happier in non-union vs. union shops.
Did unions have their place at one time yes, Will they again, we will see. However, I don't think they should be demonized either.
As for political funding... Is it right for a company to ask you to donate to a PAC for their cause? Because I have worked for one that did and basically mandated it for Managers and above. To me that is wrong...money in politics needs to be curbed otherwise we will continue to have the issue we are having today.
It goes both ways weather Democrat or Republican! Just tired of the we won, you lost mentality...that is not how it is suppose to be.
Right to work really means right to work for less. This country's economy was never better than when it had a healthy middle class. Checks and balances. Unions provide that, and corporate America hates them for it.
Unions drive a living wage. Even in nonunion shops they pay good wages and bennies to keep unions out. If WI became a right to work state it would be a mistake and something Walker said in his first election campaign that he would never sign.
I wouldn't say unions "are for the lazy"...at least not in all cases. I work with some union guys (guardrail installers from Wisconsin) who bust their asses from dark to dark and will work circles around many non-union workers. Having said that, I do believe there is a great effort by their union reps to continue to pull the wool over these guys eyes and brainwash them into believing they'd be nothing without the union's so-called support.
How that all relates to wolves, who the hell knows?!? LOL!
The majority of unions do nothing but protect the lazy, worthless types. People speak out so much about welfare types. But are fine with unions, this baffles me. As most unions are full of "workers" that do little and receive all the benefits. Plus the union protects these types, and the rest have to pick up the slack.
3 hounds killed and 2 injured just this week hunting Coyote and bobcats. Oconto, Bayfield, and Sawyer counties.
Of course we need wolf management, and more tags should be issued, and the state should really hold to a goal of 350.....
However, I believe, that poor forest management has done more harm to the deer, than anything else.....
If you want to talk politics, both parties, have done little in the last 20 years, for quality management in the Great Lakes Region
Agree with you razorhead, but be prepared for those who say there's plenty of cutting going on and more than enough for deer to eat up north. I've been down that road, and with some guys you can't win. Your version is far more realistic and in fact, that's why there's been such a push for the young forest initiative among conservation groups in recent years.
FullDraw2015's Link
Maybe Walker will finally break the spell ....... 84 years since Republicans have won a presidential election without a Bush or Nixon on the ticket.
Bingo, razor! The degree if ignorance crosses party lines. It's not about one party over another. It is about dollars. Everyone wants their piece of the pie. There is no honor in any of these politicians and may never have been. It's not about the right thing to do or, what is really needed.
Fulldraw, the Dropkick Murphys aren't too tickled with Gov. Walker, LOL. Maybe another Bush will go for it but I wouldn't be surprised if Donald Trump throws his name in the hat, too. The world of politics is getting more screwed up every day.
