From the article:

"— recreational hunting on its own has been found to be an insufficient means of population control. One study even found that bowhunters in New Jersey and Pennsylvania who were permitted unlimited tags, could shoot deer over bait, and were working during extended seasons still could not reduce the size of deer herds to sustainable levels. Deer police report

An accident report showing a driver hitting two parked cars in order to avoid a deer collision on Staten Island. Credit: silive.com

One of the study’s co-authors was Anthony DeNicola, founder of a non-profit called White Buffalo, which provides wildlife control services using lethal and nonlethal methods. "

How convenient, Tony D's study finds hunting alone can't do what they want done, Oh wait, he has just the solution, hire his company at a very high fee, no worries though, they are Non Profit, and they are usually paid by tax dollars.

"sustainable levels", defined by whom? The same non-profit group that wants to provide their "services" to achieve those levels?

A driver hitting two parked cars to avoid a deer? LOL! Deer are softer than cars dummy driver. And cheaper to "fix" too.

Lol non profit.... another way to say nicely we pay our selves until there is no more money and our company pays no taxes!

What a joke article. I think a highschooler wrote it as a book report. But My favoritve is "disturbing, harrying, or worrying" wildlife is prohibited in all five boroughs of New York City and carries a penalty of a year in jail, a $2,000 fine, or both." Worrying of wild life. Really. Even in the article the writer talks about trying to get a sight of a deer and it sees him and runs away. I would say the consitiutes "disturbing wildlife" We all know conn is bad but new York is even worse. Your fooling yourself if you think changing a politician from d to r at voting time will make any difference.

OTH, I have to disagree with that statement. If the republicans had control of the legislature last year we would have Sunday Bow Hunting this year. It had all the support it needed and just needed to be called for a vote. But the dem controlled senate's president refused to call it so we lose.

The downward spiral of CT and the US needs to be arrested which means getting control out of the hands of these dem/progressive/socialists. After that let's work on term limits to keep their greedy self-serving career politicians hands out of the taxpayer till. Two term limit, make them subject to social security like the rest of us and pay for their own health care too.

hes probably right because there is so much land off limits to hunting. So the hunters aren't the problem its access to areas where the deer are. Assuming there is a problem to begin with.

This is less an article than an advertisement.

Im not going to turn this thread into a political rant but I guess I already did. At this point I am a political atheist. I have never once seen a politician run on a platform of repealing laws. Every one of them wants to enact laws for their "group" There are so many ridiculous laws on the books such as "worrying wildlife" that is is impossible to not break some sort of law. Heck just trying to look at a deer as the author stated in the article caused the deer to run away. I would think it qualifies as "disturbing wildlife". Until I see people running on platforms for repealing stupid laws and actually following thru on their political pledges I don't see much difference d or r.

Wow, guess that tells us all we need to know about you: K from CT.

Thinking like that has brought us some of the worst gun law in the nation; and an extremely unfriendly business climate, and High Taxes, and soon maybe TOLLS! Thanks so much for helping out.
