We, as hunters, need to realize that we live in one of the best bear hunting states in the world.Tons of opportunities in probably 2/3rds of the state.
They a re a beautiful, majestic creature that taste excellent.

As a comparison Colorado harvested 1350 bear last year. WV is a little over 24000 sq. miles in size, Colorado is over 100,000 sq. miles in size.
So a state that is 25% the size of CO has twice the bear harvest. I would say that is pretty good. If only we could bait. (Hint Hint to DNR).

I'd like to see archery only, bait allowed, spring bear season right after turkey season.

How about 2 days with guns and a week or 2 with bows. It forces you to be closer to the bear and hopefully save a few cubs/ sows with cubs.

Can't . Bear hunters association won't allow it.

I guess I didn't realize the bear hunters assoc. owned the bears in WV, and has the ultimate control over what happens with them.
I learn something new every day.
