Have you guys had any difficulty getting wood for bows? I heard a major supplier of bow building wood burned down recently.

Nice by the way.

I remember that thread from the leatherwall. Jeff, you still shooting it?

I didn't hear that, Art. Do you know which one it was? I have a pretty good supply of wood, and generally find better deals locally or on ebay, so haven't bought from an actual bow wood supplier for years.

Roger, I still have it but haven't shot it lately.

Not sure Jeff. Heard it from Chise.

It was the manufacturer for laminates ,{ glued up layers} I think just the th icker stuff used in risers, but it could be action wood too

It was an action or diamond wood place.

Jeff, is there an advantage to this cut you use.

Compared to this cut I use.

Nope. Same exact cut my friend. My slats were just narrower. I have a pattern drawn on paper, make a bunch of copies, and then cut them out when I need them, glue them on, orienting them onto the slat or billet's centerline, and then make the cuts. So my pattern width never changes regardless of the width of the wood. Sometimes, when the slats are more narrow than the pattern, the paper will overhang the wood, and it will look like that when it's done.

The only thing that's really different between mine and yours is mine is 1/4" shorter. I like a 4" handle when it's all done and want to be sure the splice can't be seen at the end of the leather, so my splice is 3 3/4" long... allowing the leather to hide the splice by 1/8" on either end.

Roger,

Chris does a lot of complaining about what RC's cutting, and it ain't his Z's. LOL!!!

Yep, Dave, me and Chris have had many discussions about the stuff Roy cuts. :)
