Conoway Lake WMA Funds?

The state inked a six million dollar deal for drilling rights under Conoway Lake WMA. The additional buck tags generate roughly one million dollars. Lack of funds is often cited for a reason not to lower the buck limit. I see this as a perfect opportunity for change.

My question is, "Any idea where this money is going?"

From what I understand right in the bank not to be spent until all the legal work, state and Federal red tape is done and to make sure everything is cleared up before any money is released to budget. Worst thing they can do is spend money and something pop up and they would have to pay it back with money they don't have.

Are their plans for horizontal drilling under any other WMA's?

I think they are looking at it. They have mineral rights at some but not all WMAs. Some the DNR owns the land and at others they lease the land. I don't know which is which.
