Hi guys, I just became a resident here in Idaho after moving from Ohio.I am 75 and not into climbing mountains much but could use some help in finding a place to deer and elk hunt close by to Nampa where I live. My hunting will be one day at at time trips. Much appreciate any help.

One day at a time will really limit your hunting time. Your best bet is to do some serious scouting. Try the west side of West Mountain out of Council or scout the area around Lost Reservoir (turn off is about 10 miles west of New Meadows). Your best bet is to dry camp over night in your vehicle. It takes too long to get to good PUBLIC elk habitat from Nampa.
