Opinion poll
West Virginia
Contributors to this thread:
For those of you that are members of the WV Farm Bureau,
1: How do you feel about their stance of being against Sunday hunting?
2: if you disagree, have you voiced your opinion to them?
3: if not, why?
This is just an opinion poll. I will not debate or respond to answers.
If enough hunters would they could take over the farm Bureau.
The reason I ask is because I own a farm I was looking at their web site because I was thinking about joining but was confused when I saw their stance. I would think they would be for something that helped control the deer population, plus the issue of property rights.
It is my understanding that the Ohio Farm Bureau fought for Sunday Hunting. Somewhere in my failing memory I recall that Virginia Farm Bureau fought against Deer Farms. West Virginia is a product of its leadership. After legislation passed that created a Lt. Governor for the State they continued to be opposed to the idea, as if it hadn't happened......go figure???
Gobbler for President of the Farm Bureau
Thanks, but no thanks. I'm just a retired hillbilly from an old dirty coal mining town. I could never do it.
Maryland Farm Bureau fought FOR Sunday hunting due to increased deer kill and more valuable leases. Who ants to lease something for weekend activity when 50% of your hunting opportunities are against the law.
Ohio Farm Bureau was against it but made a deal for increase trespassing fees.
Virginia Farm Bureau was against it along with the deer hound hunters. Their organized effort, along with changes brought about at the ballot box, eventually won Sunday hunting.
Pennsylvania is against it. However, they made a law where it is legal to hunt coyotes and foxes on Sunday. Very hypocritical if you ask me about that one.
They are against it. I believe it was the January monthly magazine that stated all of their positions on all the issues in the state.
Nationwide gives you a discount if you join or are a member of the Farm Bureau. Tricky way to boost your organizations numbers when it comes to political power.
I apologize, I know I said I wouldn't respond, but if that's the case. It makes me wonder how many people are aware that their numbers may be being used against them if they personally agree with Sunday Hunting??
Obviously , if one is opposed to Sundsy hunting it wouldn't bother them.
I'm a life member of the NRA, but I gave them heck when they were trying to get a gun season in the 4 bow counties. I used to donate the the NRA- ILA( the branch that helps lobby for those types of things), I told them I was going to quit donating and haven't given a penny since. I think what upset me the most, that I wasn't given a choice to vote or express an opinion about what was going on in my own state. Somebody, somewhere decided to get involved with an issue that had nothing to do with gun rights and was instead a game management issue.
I believe they have "delegates" that vote on the policies which interesting enough covers about everything and measures 189.#87 is opposition to Sunday hunting. #114 is private property rights.
Glad to see they have their priorities right.
