Paddle Fish Snagging

I drew a Francis case paddle fish snagging tag and I was hoping for some advice on this tag. Does anyone have any past experience? It probably depends on weather but what would be the best dates to go? Any gear tips? Thanks.

I think earlier is better, best places are up by the dam at Fort Thompson or by the confluence with the White River south of Chamberlain. A good long rod with some bend, 30 lb test, a 5 oz sinker and a stout 1/0 or 2/0 treble will get it done.

You had better check the regs on the hook size. 10/0 and 12/0 are way too big. I recall that #2 was the about the largest allowed. I think that the gap between the shank and the point has to be no more than 1/2".
