What about the other zones?

So much talk about zones 11 and 12 and deer population. The other zones deserve some attention too!!!! How do you feel the other zones are holding up (besides BBB's Northwest Corner)? I hunt New Haven County mostly ... population seems stable. I see deer on state land but would like to see more. Not sure how DEEP could increase numbers on state land. Decreasing bow tags wouldn't make much difference. I'm sure very few hunters take 4 deer with the bow. Shotgunners take most of the deer and they are already restricted to 1 deer. Not sure what DEEP could do besides making severe restrictions (which they'll never do)

I've hunted Salmon River State Forest since 1985. Saw plenty of big bucks every year up until about 2004-5. Since then it's been getting worse each year. Less deer, less sign, less rut activity. Happy to just get a shot now. Many sits with zero sightings.
Also have hunted Wallingford private land for the last 7-8 years. Same deal there. But have seen better bucks on occasion, but only during first two weeks of Nov. - cruising....not regulars.
Now tried a new spot next to Westbrook later last year with some good sign, sightings, but missed the rut, so this year might hold better promise. I'm not holding my breath.
I don't gun hunt. Bow only.

Ive hunted in zones 4A and the one with Stafford forget what zone number. The 4A zone looked better years ago then it does now. The zone with Stafford looked like it had good sign and a decent deer population. I may try there this year.

Anyone see any white buffalo in their zones? I understand they can really bring down the deer herd. ;)
