Bear in Hancock

Has anyone seen or harvested any bear in the Hancock area? Just wondering as I have an 80 acre parcel and might go during summer to scout thx

There is bear in the area and some have been taken in years past. You may want to see on your 80 acre do you have areas that have any berries as a food source for the bears...
I have a buddy who lives in the area and had all kinds of issue with his bird feeders due to bear coming in the night and nocking them down to eat the sun flowers or other bird food. SO much so that he now has no bird feeders..

They seem to like bird feeders , larger the better, give one a try. Berry bushes are just starting to bud. They won't be hitting them for some time. Or you could visit you town and see if there any dumpsters outside of the stores the bears love them.

I HAVE HUNTED HANCOCK FOR OVER 20 YEARS,THERE ARE LOTS OF BEAR,SHOT ONE LAST YEAR,HAVE SEEN PLENTY ON THE GAME CAMER

So I went to do some scouting this weekend and found lots of deer sign and some berry bushes all trampled down. Not sure if its from deer or bear. Not soft enough ground for any prints. Would be interested if anyone has seen or heard of any activity in the Hancock area this summer. I will be putting up cameras next week. Thx Rick

sorry to hijack the thread a bit... but anyone have any thoughts on the gray line of hunting near a bird feeder? would you consider that baiting? more importantly, would the DEC consider that baiting?

Its up off the main rd opposite the Post office. Rt 67 Sands creek rd about 3-6 miles from you id guess
