As many of you know the ongoing discussion about how WV manages their deer herd compared to other states is not going away anytime soon.

The WV Hunters for Better Buck Management facebook group has been an outlet for debating the topic. Regardless of one's position, one theme came up often in threads in the group. That was the need for more deer biology education available to WV hunters.

The thought is that if more educational resources were made available to the hunting public, we will start seeing some changes with "better buck management" one hunter at a time. The absolute best resource to help aid in this endeavor is the Quality Deer Management Association.

Thankfully, we have a WV branch of QDMA in the Mountaineer QDMA. They are a fairly new branch and need all of our support to grow and become a voice and resource for WV. Membership is free and they have a great website and a new facebook group. I will provide links further down to both of those.

After a meeting between WVBBM and M-QDMA we were in agreement that we need to work together in the area of hunter education. Our first of many goals is to post at least one billboard for one year that highlights the aging of bucks. Fundraising is underway for this project and we hope to have it wrapped up soon with some more help.

If you want to get involved with this project, please follow the link I posted above to make a tax deductible donation. Thanks!
